Envelopes from textbook paintings and modified bubble mailer

I’ve been going through all the kids’ old homeschooling stuff as we purge the basement in preparation for a renovation. I didn’t want to just throw out the beautiful paintings from their language arts books, so I made some envelopes out of them.

Because I didn’t want their work to show on the inside of the envelope, I glued a sheet of white paper to each painting, but it didn’t work out so well. Some of the paper came unglued and despite my best efforts, some portions of the envelopes looked a little “wrinkly.”

They’re still very usable, though!

Along the same lines, I was going to mail a book to a couple of people, but the only bubble mailers I had were either too small or way too big. So I did some re-arranging to make the envelope smaller

And a great bonus is that we have some “stress buster strips” to play with, lol. It’s fun to pop the bubbles.

Did you know bubble wrap was invented accidentally, and was initially supposed to be a type of textured wallpaper? Smithsonian magazine has an article about it if you’re interested: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/accidental-invention-bubble-wrap-180971325/

I love your creativity with envelopes!
It’s great to reuse and upcycle stuff instead of throwing it away.

And I love your rings too! They look great on your hand!
(I’ve got skinny white fingers, lol.)

Thank you

My rings are finger splints. They prevent my fingers from hyperextending. I love them because they’re pretty but also because my fingers hurt a lot less since getting them

When I’m doing fine motor things that require a lot of force, I have splints for the distal joints of my fingers also (they go above the ones you see in the picture).

I also have a thumb splint, but it bruises me so I don’t like wearing it unless I really need to. My physio said the fact it bruises me shows how much I need it, because the bruise if from my joint trying to hyperextend past where the splint is holding it back.
