February Thing-A-Day 2026

Let’s challenge ourselves to make something every day for the month of February! This craftalong is a place to share our motivation, progress, links, finished objects, and failures too, as we work our way through the month.

What counts as a Thing for the day? That’s entirely up to you! Maybe you want to finish something small, or just work for 20 minutes on a larger project. Whatever you feel is an act of creation, that’s what we’re going for.

We encourage sharing pictures of what you did each day. If you’re the list making type, you may use your first post on this thread to edit as you go to see all your things at once. But make sure you still post a new reply to the thread - it’s easy to miss an edit if it’s buried way upthread. And we want to see and encourage each other!

I know I didn’t do an “interest” post for this this year - it honestly slipped my mind until the very last minute. I didn’t want to not have it for those who look forward to this every year (like me!).

I feel like I sort of need this as a kind of “permission” to take time to craft. I don’t know what Old Gods have been angered by my house, lol, but “somebody done did somethin,’” as an old friend used to say, and my crafting has been foolishly tabled by overthinking stressy thoughts. Time to get back to the therapy of crafts!

Hooray, I was hoping this would be back! My main project is going to be cleaning up my craft space (yes, that was last year’s project, too  ). But I’m also planning to do a version of the scrap-a-day thing that’s going around journaling/papercrafting circles lately. I have a spot ready in my journal.

ETA: 2/1 is in the book (ha!).

No cleaning, but I was away from the house most of the day.

Do you do the artwork right onto that grid? Or do you plan it with words in the grid and make it outside the grid? I’m curious. That looks highly manageable.

I made a thing! This seedy bread, it’s a flourless slice of pure fibre. Actually pretty tasty.

I realize in hindsight that “scrap” can read as “scrapbook.” This is literally just some piece of something from your day. It can be crafting scraps but also a bit of packaging, a receipt, whatever.

The standard way people are doing it is specifically a 1 x 1 inch scrap, and although my boxes worked out to about that size, I’m not planning to require them all to be that big.

I’m working on leg warmers for Rose while watching the latest Bridgerton episodes.

Though I should be working on the positive affirmation swap. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Today’s “craft” was working on building a toy robot chameleon (pics tomorrow, I put it away to keep it from cats overnight.) it wasn’t what I had really wanted to do for my craft time today, but a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do.

I drew up some sketches for things I want to sew this month. I’ll be drawing and cutting patterns over the next few days. If I do a few things each day, by the time the fabric comes, (Feb 9), I’ll be ahead to actually sew!

I also picked out some yarn for longer term projects.

Day 2: choosing one of these kits. And also that dratted Chameleon. It better work once done. 130 tiny pieces! And if we build it together for hourrrrrs and it doesn’t run seven year old Kidlet will be crushed. She currently introduces herself as an engineer/inventor to people so I’d like mot to crush that by my inabilities lol

I think I am going to try this with something simple. I will draw a quick sketch a day of a cat! I really want to get back into drawing more.

She’s the best.

Love this!

I vote snowmen! They are so cute!

I think I will do the snowmen. That’s seasonal (we’re buried in snow right now lol) and the needle minder book can be any time of year. Both kits were bought at the same time so no one wins for age haha.

Lots of French knots?..they are not my strong suit! ha The mittens are so tiny!

It’s actually mostly sewing felt to felt. I don’t have sewing/embroidery skills (yet) so it’s allegedly a more simple project.

I’m in, let’s see what I can get done this month
Day 1: Created the monthly calendar for our fridge (picture without our scheduled stuff in it, cakes signify birthdays, added names on them) and tried a new recipe - roasted tomatoes with white beans – smitten kitchen
Didn’t have white beans, so used chickpeas instead, turned out yummy (like everything else I’ve ever tried from Deb).

Day 2: Tried a new recipe - quick, essential stovetop mac-and-cheese – smitten kitchen
Yummy, simple to make, and cheaper than the boxed versions we have available here.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
