Flatware Drawer Organizer

We have this weird diagonal counter top. It makes sense for making the most of the size of the kitchen for cabinetry, etc., but it comes with challenges, including organizing the flatware. That grip mat barely made a difference with stuff sliding around, too.

I have a lot of scrap of the 1/8" veneer plywood used to back the bookcase I recently finished and realized it would be perfect for making drawer dividers/organizers! I decided to start with this trapezoidal drawer, because why go easy on myself?

I originally was going to make 5 slots; one for each piece of a 5-piece place setting. They were really wide, tho! I’m a person who sees those professionally orgainzed pantries and after marvelling at the improvement, notices all the cubic inches “going to waste.” :woman_shrugging: So I added one for chopsticks, which we actually use fairly often, especially during ramen season.

I may add one divider in the back, but we’ll see how using this goes.

I have ideas for bathroom and dresser drawers.

What a great way to use up those scraps! You really rose to the challenge on this and maximized that space in such a well thought out way.

Thank you! I’m kind of excited for the next time I unload the dishwasher!

Clever solution and excellently crafted.

Thanks, everyone! Last night when I went into this drawer for a table knife, I was pleasantly surprised by the tidiness of the drawer and the accessibility of the knife section!

Excellently executed! Everything is custom!

Thank you! I’m extra proud of figuring out the angle and then cutting the length of the dividers correctly on the first try!

It looks great! What an awesome idea!

Thanks so much!
