Fondant Merit Badges

These were a cake decoration! I made, rolled, and cut fondant into circles, then let them dry overnight. Then I used food coloring pens to draw merit badges. I had to fudge some colors a bit as my pen set only had a limited amount, but I like how they came out.

This is so cool! I’m not super familiar with cake decorating- does fondant dry pretty sturdy as if it was like edible clay?

Would love to see the finished cake as well!

Yeah, if you purposefully dry it it’s a bit like edible air dry clay. Letting it dry makes it easier to get tight lines with the pens. Usually you keep it refrigerated so it stays pliable. Dry fondant is not super fun to eat, at least to me. But ok for decoration.

Those are sooooo cool and you did an awesome job with the detail on the badges.

Regardless of the color challenge there is no doubt at all that these are merit badges for Boy Scouts. So cool!
