While doing a kind of “compartmental crafting” in the form of paper rosettes, I noticed that this one reminded me of a football (American) field. My MIL is a big Cowboys fan and I knew I had these football embellishments in my stash, so I decided to make her a little thingy.
I also had some Cowboys papers in my stash that I picked up for making things for her. So I could finish the back, too.
I felt like it needed just a little something more than the football and rosette, so I cut a silver glitter circle that I backed with some ribbon from the gift wrap stash.
I found blue and white star paper to make a straw/handle.
Anyway, mostly I was just making a bunch of straws for a Halloween thing I have in mind using scrapbook papers from stash. I mostly have printed cardstock and these use basic scrapbook printed papers. I used this tutorial which does wax the straws for use in beverages, but I skipped that.
I learned that a 45-degree angle on the wrap makes a sturdier, but shorter straw than a shallower angle.
The rosette die I have is also best suited to standard scrapbook paper, so I decided to make a bunch of them, too! I used a lot of the same papers, but also some others. A larger print works better on a rosette than a straw.
