The time has been flying by this month and we haven’t had a chance to put ornaments on the tree yet. But, since this was a recent finish, it was already in the house and ready to be displayed!
I made three of these ‘For the Love of Reading’ ornaments.
This one has a natural wood background:
I made these ornaments using the same methods/techniques that I used on my LettuceCraft Love ornaments. The ornaments are made from 4 laser cut wooden layers that I then covered with black glitter, which does a beautiful job of reflecting the colored lights on the tree (the pic just doesn’t do it justice!).
After I made the ornament with the teal background, I got the idea to arrange the books by color. I loved the way it looked, so that’s how I did the last two ornaments. Once the ornaments were finished, I customized a box for each ornament to be stored in.
These are absolutely gorgeous! True works of the miniature arts! I was definitely thinking of an comparing (unfavorably) to your LC Love ornaments when I was throwing together my own simple bookcase ornament. These knock my socks off!
These are so cute and special; I love them so much. I especially love that they have their own little boxes to be stored in. Do you glue the books into the shelves, or are they removable?
Thank you, all! I really enjoyed the process of making these.
Thank you. I bought a file on etsy that had multiple houseplants to choose from. I originally planned on creating a plant with leaves that would drape down over the shelves (like a pothos), but after creating a tester plant, I realized it wasn’t going to work the way I was picturing it. So it worked out really nicely that the etsy file happened to have these snake plants that turned out to be just what I needed.
@TheMistressT - I love the way you personalized your bookshelf! Yours is the kind of ornament guaranteed to bring a smile every year you put it up.
@LindyBlues, the books on these ornaments are all glued into place. The LettuceCraft books in my LettuceCraft Love ornaments are removable so that they can be reconfigured.
