So, when Furbies first came out, I was 100% sure it was a Gizmo/Gremlin toy, and I remember feeling like people had gone crazy–why in the world would anyone want to make a “real life” gremlin??? Please keep in mind I was 16.
Anyway, people made fun of me for getting them confused because “they looked nothing alike.”
Well, it turns out I was not the only one who thought they did.
Warner Brothers actually sued Hasbro over the similarity, and they settled out of court for a hefty sum. That’s when Furby was re-introduced, and later the companies partnered to create the Gizmo Furby.
