Happy Mail Craftalong 2021 ~ Monthly themes and Birthdays too!

For some odd reason I had it in my head that I had to go thru this big rigamorale in order to post photos. That’s why I haven’t been posting any. I figured it out this morning the very easy way to post photos. So here goes, and thank you everyone for your patience!

Here’s some more:

And with that, I should be updated!

From now on I will be able to post in a more timely manner.

Last post for today, I promise!

I am putting together special packages for DH to bring with him when he gets his treatments; to give to people who want them. Here’s an example of what’s included:

I’d like to include a special card in each bag. I’d like to put it out there to see if anyone could send me special cards to include instead of personal happy mail? TYSM!

I added this to the special requests in the first post :kissing_heart:

US Happy Mail Friends - mail to NZ may be delayed/disrupted

Just further to @geekgirl’s post, I’ve just seen an item on our news this morning that the USPS has suspended mail to New Zealand and Australia temporarily, due to COVID related issues.

UPDATE - it looks like all parcels and most other services to NZ are suspended, but cards and letters are still being accepted.

So if you’re using the USPS, please be aware that that it may be extra slow/unreliable at the moment.

Oh man, that sucks and is kinda scary!

I sent both you and @PrincessP some happy mail a few weeks ago. It was full of uncut diamonds!

Just joking. Sending love virtually for now. I hope you all are doing ok.

LOL!

I can still send mail to the US, and many online shopping sites seem to use other services, so I think it will mainly affect personal mail coming from US friends. Hopefully not for too long!

Things are mostly alright here - NZ is doing OK with staying on top of the pandemic, the sun is shining and the spring blossoms are out on the plum tree :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Hope things are good in your part of the world!

Yes! Covid number came down a little bit this week and my county vaccinations rates are at 81% of 18 and older.

It is a beautiful, sunny autumn day here. I only worked half day and I’ve been putting up some Halloween decorations.

P.s. I also have a plum tree and it has gorgeous little pink blossoms in springtime.

New Zealand and Australia have footnotes on their bans to say which services are included, and it doesn’t look like first class letter rate is actually on the list. So, no swap packages or anything, but I don’t think they’re actually refusing cards and letters.

On the other hand, it may take even longer for things to get into the country for a while. :woman_shrugging:

Oh OK that’s something! The news article I read didn’t specify, just said it was suspended. So, no swap packages, but letters will still get through. :grinning:

But I’m not optimistic about how long they will take to get here with more disruption …

Edited to add - I updated my post above. Given that it’s likely to be disrupted/even slower, my US happy mail friends might want to limit mailing things for a while.

Thank you everyone. The short story is that we will be putting one of our dogs down… The long story is that he’s old, grouchy, itchy, sore, etc and he bit our little guy… The bite wasn’t bad but the way he went after the little guy was scary. We had already been talking about it because the dog is having a hard time right now and his quality of life isn’t great. The bite made the decision easier. I’ll be calling a service today to make the arrangements. We’re planning on having it done at home to cause him as little stress as possible… It’s hard, it sucks, but mostly I’m dreading the sadness my kiddo will feel once it’s done. He’s still so little and we’ve started talking with him about how the dog is going to go away, but he thinks it’s temporary and doesn’t understand the forever part.

I am so sorry to hear this…I know when my forever dog got old, he started biting us, especially my husband…I think he couldn’t see or hear well and was afraid…it was the hardest thing I ever did, but I did not want him to lose quality of life (plus, we found out he had cancer as well…)…take care…your little one will be alright…children adapt so easy at that age, but he will be sad for a while because you are…hugs to you and your family!
