Crazypants!
mmmm now I want to know more about how y’all use drywall tape for “not on walls,” lol… I have some at home because at some point we were going to finish a wall, and it never happened. I’ll probably still keep it for if we ever get around to finishing that wall, but… just in case… point me in some alternative directions?
I layer it over a nice solid coat of paint in journals, cards and other pieces. I have used it on bookmarks. You can also use it to create texture and paint over it…leave it or remove it for a cool print. There are so many YouTube videos on using it.
Like Linda, I’ve used it for mixed media, like masterboards. Also to create interesting skin texture in an altered coloring book page.
Cool!
Drywall tape is super expensive here, so I’ll probably only use it in art making once we’ve absolutely given up on the wall ![]()
Got an unexpected happy fall card from @melg78 !! Thanks so much — love the message and the stickers are so cute!
I need to get going w some happy mail myself!
I also received a lovely fall card from @melg78! Thank you!
I finally had some time to get some happy mail out, but i haven’t made my way down the whole list of people I’m sending to just yet. Hoping to work through that list by month’s end.
You are welcome @Tapestry @kayrun glad you liked your cards and stickers
I have one more card to get out, I had to hunt high and low for my international stamps lol
I had a very tough day yesterday visiting my SIL in a nursing home. It was such a pleasant surprise to receive such a cheerful fall themed card from @melg78!
Thank you so much! Why does it seem that this group seems to know just when a little pick-me-up is most needed!?
I am preparing some things for upcoming art lessons, so I will have some things to make cards again.
I’m glad you came home to some joy. Keeping your family lifted up ![]()

That Lorne Greene stamp is cracking me up.
I wanted to save them so I made a couple of quick journal pages from them and the beautiful envelope!
Beautiful!!!
So, this brings up a question to our fellow Happy Mailers:
What do you do with all the goodies or lovely cards/envelopes that you receive? I would love to see some projects. I have a basket where I keep the letters and cards and a basket for stickers, inserts, etc. I don’t want everything to just sit in a basket, so I am using many of the things for happy mail to others (card making, etc.) and for my journals.
I am sticking the fun stickers all over my art cart and my plastic bins. I save favorites in a small sticker journal.
I also received a wonderful letter from @LindyBlues
I haven’t had much time to write any mail this year.
I think I will follow @Immaculata’s route and bring my LC adress book when I’m traveling. It will be fun looking for postcards for you guys when I’m away from home
I enjoy looking through my happy mail wire basket from time to time, but haven’t actually made any projects… that’s a very good idea!
I make a scrap book of sorts. I love saving most letters that are sent to me. I do different things with different kinds of mail.
Handwritten letters that are “long-form” go in a binder. I have a binder of letters that Dan and I sent to each other since the beginning of our relationship, going back to 2001! Actually, it’s now 2 binders, lol…
For cards where people just signed their name (e.g. Christmas), I’ll often re-use the cards for other projects, like making gift tags, or sometimes making postcards out of the front of a greeting card.
And for the bits and bobs that come with happy mail, or for the happy mail itself, where the message was heartfelt or there was art inside, I make a memory book, usually that I’ve bound myself.
Here’s my latest memory book; it includes many of the things I was sent via the mail.
And here’s an older one ![]()
