My daughter asked me to buy bagels the last grocery run, but the store was out. She mentioned a couple of times during the week that she’d like a bagel, so I decided to try making some.
Learning why you have to boil the dough and converting quantities was also a great and practical history, science, and math lesson for my homeschooled son, who helped me make these.
I used this recipe from a website called “Sugar Geek Recipes.”

They look yummy! I can always tell when a bagel has not been boiled…the consistency is really off. You do so many fabulous fun things with and for your kids! Can they be frozen or are they gone before you get a chance?
I’ve been feeling really discouraged with homeschooling for the last few weeks, so the encouraging words are really welcome
I hadn’t thought of freezing them. There’s 5 of us and we all love bread, so they’ll likely be gone in a couple of days. I wonder if the texture would still be OK after freezing. When I’ve frozen store-bought bagels, they felt soggy wen we defrosted them. Perhaps I’ll put 1 or 2 in the freezer to test it out.
