Junk Drawer Monster Notecards

For the Monster Mystery Express Swap, I made a set of notecards.

The backgrounds are strips of underused washi tapes ftom my stash (probably subconsciously inspired by geekgirl’s recent washi cards). I was struggling with inspiration for the monster piece of things until I hit on the idea of using found objects, which morphed into me rifling through the junk drawer. (And finding more old dumb phones than I knew I had around. Separate story.) Here’s the haul; not quite all of it made the final cut.

I drew and cut out some templates and then traced them onto some book page. Cut 'em out, colored 'em in, added some features, and then stuck 'em down with some simple clusters (that I still spent aaages fiddling with).

Here are their close-ups:

Thanks for looking! Happy Monster Jam!

What an interesting process. I especially like the one who looks like he is doing yoga on a blue mat.

Thanks, friends!

I genuinely don’t know why I own that padlock. It was still in the package.

I immediately saw the monster on the yoga mat! Very fun and textile.
