The box took me a lot longer to finish than I had planned! I originally wanted to do a pink Medusa themed box, but I could draw a Medusa I was happy with. So I painted some monsters based on some pins curiousfae had on her Pinterest.
I used gorilla glue to continue glueing down the fabric onto the cardstock. Once that was finished I was able to slide the panels into the corresponding spots. I glued these down as well.
@Bunny1kenobi I had a lot of fun drawing and painting that one. It was the right amount spooky for this.

Thanks for sharing your process! I did not know the inside was fabric! I also did not know you started with a plain wooden box…in my head, I thought you started with an already done jewelry box! Well done!
@AIMR thank you. I’ve had this plain wooden jewelry box for several years. It came with paint pots and a really crappy brush. Lol. It’s like the premade boxes you can find at craft stores. I just painted it. And added the fabric. The result of the fabric was the most satisfying part. The fabric was actually stretchy before I added spray glue to it. I have a bunch leftover so I’ll think of something fun to do with the rest.
I actually removed the hardware pieces so that it was easier to paint. This helped a lot.
Posca pens!
Fabric lining idea worked out really well.
Needs improvement:
I did not sand the box enough. There are some bumps on the main monster on the lid. I thought I sanded well, but when I started painted I noticed the bumps.
I wish I added felt to the very bottom of the box.

My SIL loved making decorated boxes. She bought all sorts of supplies like hinges, locks, etc. She had tons of felt sticker things that she put on the bottom of the boxes so that they would not harm any surface. Sometimes she would use rubber bumpers (in cases like mine where my cats could easily slide the boxes off the shelf if they were felt).
I liked the “bumps” around the kitten…the additional texture was nice! I also love how many different materials and supplies you used!
