The cacti wall hanging is lovely @steiconi!! I can see the likeness with your inspiration for sure.
@skrutt - those circles look awesome together! I can see how it was not as fun as the month went on, but the end result is wonderful!
I am back home after the meet up but tired and playing catch up. We will do the July drawing this weekend. Thanks for your patience!
Announcement Time
All my recent travel caught up with me this weekend and I am currently sick on the couch! I wanted to make sure I closed July since we are well into August, but I’m doing the quick version.
We had three stitchers who completed qualifying stitches in July: jemimah, AIMR, and steiconi. I’m going to give honorable mention to Immaculata as she was clearly working on a cactus stitch even if she didn’t post the finished product. I’ve designated our July winner is @steiconi !! You get to select our theme for August!!
Thank you!
The August theme, in honor of the Perseid Meteor Showers, is…
The Night Sky
Or anything at night, or relating to the sky at any time of day.
I love that theme!
Excellent theme!
Beautiful theme, inspiring!
Oops, forgot the post the finished result! Hope I won’t forget about that part this month. I don’t have any ideas yet but I’m sure with a theme like that, I can come up with something.
I’ve got an idea! Now, I just have to find time to make it happen.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with doing some cross stitch for the Prairie Schooler Swap. I haven’t done very much cross stitch in recent years, and it’s been nice to rediscover how relaxing and meditative it can be.
I’ve been experimenting with different colours and fabrics, and also mashing up some patterns while I make a final decision on what to send to my swap partners. This one fits the night sky theme!
The original pattern (from Cranberry Christmas booklet) was just in red, with a touch of green, but I decided to try out deeper muted colours, on natural linen, and also made a few adjustments to the pattern so I could add the little bunnies from another pattern
I like how you changed up the colors. I bet is is lovely in just red and white, but it really does change the mood with the additional colors.
Oh I love the mashup of patterns!
I recently finished a cross stitch project, too! I agree it can be fun in small bites/doses.
I like this more than the original pattern! In the original pattern the path was left unstitched but the lawn was stitched. Reversing that makes more sense to me. And the colours you chose fit perfectly.
I received my Wool Warehouse order, finally, and it included a lucky dip bag full of embroidery fabric remnants. A few of them are perfect for this swap.
Lucky dip bag!! You’ll have fun with that
okay, yeah, maybe I’m obsessed with moon images…the nose and mustache were inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac.
There are hand-embroidered accents, and accent “stars” of rhinestone earring studs that happened to be right there on the table and wanted to join in.
This is the first block for my maybe someday quilt. We were talking on one thread about what to do with “unassigned” crafts, and I realized that one reason I don’t make much stuff is that don’t have a use for it. If I skew everything toward quilt blocks, I’ll have a crafting purpose once more, and maybe someday a quilt!
This is really wonderful…and it will make a very nice block for an art quilt! I think that is a style you excel in…I love the literary referenced moon nose! ha
It’s lovely!! I love the stitched circles!
I knew you’d be amazing at quilting, and this just proves it!!
This looks really cool, I love all the surface texture, it make me want to touch it!
