Lettuce Craft Stitchalong 2023

Ok, it’s late & I have no patience so I watched it on FF with volume off but OMG what even is this? Tambour Embroidery

Interesting! I had to look it up:

I know I’ve heard of Tambour lace before.

:sun_behind_small_cloud: And just like that, it’s June! How is everyone doing? I hope we are still enjoying the stitchalong! Since we only had 2 stitches last month and one was from the prior month’s winner, our May winner will be… @Abbeeroad!

:thread: Our theme for June will be… Inspired by Books! :books: Stitch up a cozy reading spot, a stack of books, an inspiring quote, a far off land, a favorite character, or even a textbook diagram or dictionary definition. If it’s book related, it counts!

:bulb: Some inspiration for this theme:

:star: Don’t forget! We also will have our 2nd quarterly drawing at the end of this month. A prize has generously been donated by @Magpie!

Are you sure? I’m really not ready for June yet!!

Great new theme @Abbeeroad, I’m keen to make something with the gorgeous prize pack of silk threads I received from @AIMR. She sent some more for an OWS claim as well, so I’ve got a spectacular assortment to play with :sparkling_heart:

I should share a picture …

Half of these are for an OWS claim, and half for the stitchalong prize - and they add up to one gorgeous pile of silk that my fingers are itching to stitch! The colours are just perfect for me!

Wow! Gorgeous! What a great prize. We have a needlepoint shop here (somewhere) and their website shows these on the wall. I had no idea what it was. I will have to check out the store and give these a try!

What a fun theme. I hope I have time this month to participate.

Heho! I’ve an entry! I couldn’t pass up Inspired by Books. This piece is going to be framed and put into my craftroom, which is why the kite string looks a little weird. Didn’t consider the effect of frame’s glass on stem stitch.

This is a stitched rendition of the original cover of my All Time Favorite book, The Tao of Pooh. Basically, the author explains Taoism through the 100 Acres wood characters. I won’t go any further and spoil it for those interested, but this is such a great book, as its sequel The Te of Piglet.

I used back, stem and split stitches to outline my crayon tinting.

One of my favourite books! Beautifully rendered, you got that exact Hundred Acre Woods grassy green just right. Nice.

I’m enjoying seeing what y’all stitch, but haven’t been feeling well enough to participate. Maybe in July…

@Bajita Wonderful stitch!!!

@steiconi - oh no! I hope you feel better soon. I have been missing your stitching.

That is gorgeous @Bajita, your crayon tinting is especially beautiful!

Sorry to hear you haven’t been well @steiconi, I hope you feel much better soon!

I completed a small stitch for this month too, but nearly forgot to post it! The embroidery is a small preprinted piece, I got a piece of fabric with 30 small motifs, which are great for a little instant gratification stitching. This one fit the theme, and I decided to make it up into a mug rug, using some old stash fabrics.

I love how you are using your embroideries to make something functional and beautiful!

What a great mug rug to use with a good cup of tea and a good book!

Oh I love this so much!!! The perfect little stitch.

And Happy Birthday!!! :balloon:

@jemimah I love how you used your stitching in the mug rug! It’s perfect.

@Bajita nice!! I love crayon tinted embroidery.

@jemimah Smart to stitch up a mug rug, a small piece of embroidery is likely to end up in the UFO pile for ages if you don’t handle them straight away.
