Sibling sent me a photo of a bag from an advertisement and asked if I had the ability to make it. I answered yes, sibling did not ask me to make it. A year later I see a fabric that would be the perfect lining for that bag. The inquiry photo is first, followed by my version. My first time making and adjustable crossbody strap and also the most ever double cap rivets I have ever installed 14! The original pockets are still useable.
This is a beautiful recreation of the original, and your lining fabric is spot-on. Lucky sibling!
Almost liked it popped out of the picture. Did you gift it to your sibling yet?
Very unique and spacious bag! The lining is absolutely gorgeous! What is the caramel colored fabric? Is is vinyl?
You did a great job starting with a picture and creating your own version! That lining fabric is beautiful and sure to make a person smile anytime they need to get something out of this bag.
Love the overall look and that lining fabric!
Yes! loves it and started carrying the bag immediately.
It is Thomasville (furniture company) vinyl. The same fabric I used to recover the 99 cent dining room chairs a couple of years ago.
Thank you! I didn’t have a pattern so I thrifted a pair of boy’s Levi’s because they seemed to be a good size to base the other pieces off of. Most of the hardware is from a thrifted purse that was super cheap.
Thank you for all the positive comments. There is a dual secret meaning to the lining that I’m not sure the gift receiver picked up on. First, the bag was made for an older sibling whose is named after a type of bird and that bird is in the pattern. Second, this is an older sibling that teased me and I was too young to know any good comebacks so one day I called them “Bird”. They got so mad! and if they escalated it became “Bird Turd” red faced and hand clenching mad, best defense my 2nd grade self could think of. A few people get the joke and smile and some people just see pretty birds.
Great story behind the lining!
My second grade comeback was “worm”. At that age, I could think of nothing more icky than a wriggling earthworm. ha…fun memories of life with our siblings…and now we craft for them! ha
Whoop whoop! Your delightful project is featured this weekl CONGRATULATIONS!
Thanks for the positive reinforcement! I will admit to feeling anxiety during this project.
This is so cool! I like yours better than the one in the inquiry photo I also love the liner fabric! Beautiful work
Your bag turned out so cool! I love the denim/pleather combo.
This is so neat!! And I love that liner fabric as well as the story behind it!
That is really cute and lovely lining! It looks professionally made.
Thanks! Sometimes I focus too much on the mistakes and let that drown out the good parts
