There was never any doubt that my mom was going to get at least one handmade item for Mother’s Day, and when I saw this pattern set by Stitchrovia on Etsy, I knew I had found my project. I love typography, and Emma Congdon does it so well, even on a small scale.
After gathering my threads and mulling over using a coloured Aida I scratched that idea and reached for some sparkly 14-count in my stash. My mom is very much of the “more is more” mentality, and any time I show her a project I’m working on (cross-stitch, card making, you name it), her response is inevitably along the lines of “Ooh, maybe a bit of glitter? Some sort of embellishment?”
The design is just a smidge over 4" across, and the 5" hoop I used to frame it is a perfect fit. I really appreciated that the designer (who is British) included options to wax poetic on either Mum or Mom.
She was really pleased with it - her first comment was that she loved the shades of blue, which I knew she would - and she has it “temporarily” hung on her kitchen pass-through so it’s one of the first things she sees when she comes through the door.
Bonus: this fits in really nicely with this month’s theme of “love” over on the Stitchalong!
Thanks for looking!
