Ms Marions Toy Emporium -Halloween Spooktacular Entry 2025

You know you have been around the crafting swap world for a while when you can stock a whole toy store with your own collection.

Our church’s annual Trunk or Treat is a blast. This year we get a trunk full of dolls/critters/stuffies. Most of these dolls are the wonderful result of swaps over the years (recognize any?), thrift finds, and even my own creations.

And I gave away Halloween rubber duckies, bouncing eyeballs, and pumpkin colored pencils.

I bet your display was a hit! You have quite a collection of suitable dolls and animals to display! The lights and the fabric draping really add to the mood!

That looks amazing! I bet you were swarmed with kids and what a fun way to use your fabulous collection!

Thank you. The parents were quite fascinated. It slowed down the usual mad dash by kids from car to car, and some came back for another look. It was fun.

I am sure you had the best trunk there. Love all the spookiness and I see a bunch of ninnis in there!

Finnish rule! Darned autocorrect. Ninnis rule

How long does the whole process take?? I mean from idea to completion.

About 45 minutes to assemble. Supplies:

  • 4 crates and two thin shelf pieces. A few cigar boxes to add different heights.
  • scarves and other fabric to add to the ambiance.
  • A hand painted sign.
  • string lights and battery lights. My car has a 120v plug in the dash so lighting has always been available. My 20-year-old car has to keep running just for Halloween! Stringing the lights takes a while with the help of some masking tape and push pins.
  • Then adding the dolls. I brought a few too many just for good luck.

I had been gathering stuff into boxes for several weeks. And thinking about it for longer. I did do a test run on crate spacing and raided the basement for some scrap wood for shelves between the crates. I do have a shelf unit that fits perfectly in my car, but is now installed in the back of my closet and ain’t comin’ out.

And about 10 to 15 to break down. I’m not timing how long it takes to put the stuff away..I am about half done.

Awesome! Visually very inviting. I want to go to a trunk trick or treat now, I have never heard of such a thing.

Thanks for the breakdown. It looks like a lot of work. The outcome is totally worth it though.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Trunk or Treat started in the 90’s but I only started hearing about them a few years ago.

It’s a safe way to have Trick or Treat. Appt complexes, churches and schools often do this.

People decorate their trunk and the kids run around deliously and have fun. Often our church has a party for the kids or activities as well.
