I haven’t started mine, but I already have a (preposterously long) list of pin ideas, including the paper board mascot.
Puzzles are my kryptonite. It’s 2am and I am forcing myself to go to bed and stop obsessing over this acorn and its mysterious message. I did successfully decode an ominous message hidden on a screen though.
This may not be the camp I thought I was signing up for. ![]()
I… misplaced my box in the hurrying to clean things up before a party…. And I hadn’t even opened it yet ![]()
It’s in the house somewhere… today I will spend a potential obscene amount of time looking for it so I can get to camp already. I had to show up a day later because I wanted to spend a quiet day at home during the Canada Day holiday, but I’ll hopefully be on my way to my cabin sometime today!
Would anyone like to make a seperate discussion thread for the craftalong where we can brainstorm puzzle solutions for this season? I’m talking hints, tips, things we’ve tried, but NOT posting the actual solutions. That way we can still have the satisfaction of solving the puzzles ourselves, but we get to work togehter as well. A separate thread would ensure that anyone who wants zero chance of spoilers and to do everything themselves can just ignore the thread.
For example, things I have tried on the acorn:
-Substitution cipher by shifting each letter two spaces in the alphabet. No go.
-Looking at the second colum only. No go.
-Looking at the second row only. No go.
-Searching for the word oak or tree in the letters in case that should be the starting point. No go.
-Underlining every second letter. No go.
-Underlining every 3rd letter because that’s two over. No go.
I think this could be fun! Would you like me to start the thread, or would you like to?
I defer to your great and powerful camp counselor powers! If you can open the thread you can set expectations on what the thread is for and any guidelines you’d like.
Hello, Nerds! I have started a thread to discuss current and future puzzles that allow us to sleuth together. Let’s meet up to discuss what we’ve learned.
I have found my box and I am on my way to camp!
I made sure to do a “lazy” prank before leaving, though!
The TV is quietly watching and judging me, and soon enough it’ll say “you should be crafting” ![]()
I finally opened my box today. I wanted to wait until the beginning of the month so that I would finish the June projects I was working on. I am so grateful for all the work you put into these games and camps, @LovelyMiss
It’s easy to see how much fun you have creating things to share with others, and we are so lucky to have you as our captain ![]()
Also, I was unable to commit to donating a prize last season, but I am going to try to donate at least one prize this time around.
Update:
I’m almost all settled in… but as I was pulling stuff out of my bag, I realized I forgot to add my Lindy Hop pin & the photo of me and hubs with a Lindy Hop legend. How could I have forgotten? They’re up on my board now.
On a related note… I have no idea how to make the background of a butotn have a colour… and since the lindy hop photo had a clear background… I just aded a circle instead, lol!
Oof, I finally arrived at camp and I’m getting cozy. I’ve already put all my cute buttons up on my board, and I added a photo of my family, because as much as I’m so ready for some “me time” at camp, I still want something to remember them by, because they’re awesome. And I brought a photo of Liam the cat, too. He can be a pain in the butt, but I love that little big rascal…
I might add more decorations later during camp, but these are all the ones I brought with me.
A question: are the stickers and note pad for something in particular or just to use whenever for whatever?
Thank you for making a separate thread! I appreciate community efforts, but I also love trying to see how far I can get on my own first, and don’t want to run into spoilers. I somehow figured out the acorn almost immediately on opening my box a couple weeks ago, and have been looking forward to the actual start of the season to find more!
I believe (and maybe @LovelyMiss can confirm) that those are just for fun or to use however we want!
Side note, I used some of the washi tape used to decorate the box for a few things last summer, and ended up using the rest of it later too!
Thanks for your reply
I freely admit I studied the stickers to see if there was a theme or any that looked like they might tie into the puzzles
. I overthink everything.
I
these stickers. And I DO have one that is theme related.
hahaha you never know!!!
Question about the July prompts (search online OR search around town): do we have to pick one of the group of prompts, or can we mix and match?
You pick one set (path).
