Oooh! Pretty! I wish I had thought about painting the star- the pastel colors would have popped a bit more. I really love your design, too!
Can you fly to my house and help me with mine? Knowing how much work it takes, kudos to you for powering through and getting it done!

Brief Description: My friend sent me a link to some little crocheted ghosts and demanded I make her some… I’ve made one, not sure I love it… but she’ll make me make more, as the crochet guru of the group!

Project Name: S’mores Kits
Project Link: S’mores Kits
Brief Description: I made up 2 dozen s’mores kits- one individual portion. I got the idea from the local botanic garden who had them available for purchase at their Night Lights event. While I don’t camp much anymore, these would be perfect to
bring along so everyone could just grab one!

CAPTURE THE FLAG
Prompt: July Jamboree
Team: Cabin Stargazers
Project Name: Wooden flag
Project Link: N/A
Brief-ish Description: I decided to make my flag “Camp Nerd Games” themed. I feel like Camp Nerd Games is the epitome of what the Nerd Games is all about. It’s fun, it’s engaging, it’s inspiring and there’s such a pleasant camaraderie among the campers.
This flag is inspired by the classic camp song, “Home on the Range.” Home is where the heart is and LettuceCraft has a very special place in my heart. I also consider it to be my online home. I feel that the line, “where seldom is heard a discouraging word,” provides an especially apt description of the Nerd Games.
The first thing I had to do to make this flag was gather a piece of tree bark and cut it to shape….
Lol, okay, okay, more like the first thing I had to do was make my piece of bark. It is made with wood effect clay and mounted onto a triangular piece of thin cardboard. This whole project was inspired by a tree bark tutorial for a different project that I plan on doing in the future. I’m excited about the future project and liked the idea of doing a bit of a trial run, which got me thinking about what I could make with faux tree bark, thus the whole idea for this flag was born. I chose to make my flag into a magnet to commemorate the fun of this summer camp.
I wanted to make the flag look like something that might be done at camp. Originally, I tried to ‘carve’ the words into the clay before it dried, but they disappeared into the barky texture, so I decided to just paint them on. I wanted some aspect of the flag to represent what a fun and vibrant place the Nerd Games is, so I added little holes for tiny colorful tassels. After spending forever getting the tassels attached, I decided I didn’t like them, so I got rid of them and instead, wrapped the perle cotton around the side to create colorful little bands around the edge.
I don’t know why the grid feature has the pics out of order (at least on my phone) - the flag without the tassels is the final version.
This is so cool!!!
Ditto!!! (But honestly I think LC is one of those rare places where we can go to just be accepted all across the board!)
What a clever idea to create your own tree bark! It came out great, too!
@Smeddley that little ghostie is pretty adorable, especially that bow.
@craftADDchick individual s’mores packets is a great idea, since I always eat too many of them when they’re available, so I’d at least have to think about my choices a little bit when going for another!
@AudiobookLover that flag is absolutely fantastic!! I LOVE IT

Cabin Cleaning Day - We’re a month into camp and bunks are…lets say, “well used.” Spend 10 minutes organizing your craft supplies or cleaning up your space somehow. Report below when you’re done!
Did you tidy up?
- Yes
Ummm I finished my bookshelf! Not the entire room I’m trying to tidy yet, but it’s a start! I also have a stack of books to gift away, so yay!
I am loving the new prompts for this month!
ADVENTURE CLUB:
Find a cool leaf or flower - One of the things I love about the San Diego Zoo is that it’s also a beautiful botanical garden filled with all kinds of plants and flowers. Here are some pretty hibiscus flowers:
And here are some lovely leaves:
I already fulfilled the sight and identify a bird prompt, but I could resist getting a pic of this wattled jacana with it’s long legs and toothpick toes.
Arts & Crafts Club
Prompt: August Battle - Rainy days
Team: Cabin Stargazers
Project Name: Clothespin dolls
Project Link: —
Brief Description: I’m going with rainy days as they are my fav! And there’s a lot of blue in this project which reminds me of rain. To me, the dolls are reminiscent of Elsa and Luna. At least that was my goal.
This is my August project for Arts & Crafts Club.
Project Photo(s):
I’m not familiar with Luna, but I recognized Elsa immediately!
Yay! Luna is Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series.
Cute! Elsa is immediately recognizable to me.
Thank you
Cabin Cleaning Day
This year, each weekend I am picking one thing in my house and reorganizing, deep cleaning, decluttering, etc. Last weekend I picked my hall closet and I cleaned out so much. I got rid of all my old medicines, found that I had way more lightbulbs than I ever imagined, and organized all my cleaning supplies so I can find them!
