Ongoing ATC swap 2024 Gallery & Discussion

I received from @megwell for my sun & beach themes.

I love the layers. And the sentiments are very relatable

Thank you!

From @bluebird for Little Good Things:

(and Iā€™ve been staring at this because my brain is all, ā€œah yes, many people find Wordle to be an excellent little good thingā€ and also ā€œbut just at the moment itā€™s part of the NYT tech guild strikeā€¦ā€ So hereā€™s the link for the tech guildā€™s games site with ā€œStrikleā€ for those who might rather play that for now: Guild Builds)

Yay, Iā€™m so glad you like them! (And that they arrived ; I was extra antsy after the coins situation.)

Thanks for that link! I donā€™t play Wordle anymore, so I hadnā€™t heard of this alt site, but Iā€™m going to check it out!

I didnā€™t know there was a strike, this is the first I have heard of it. :face_with_diagonal_mouth: Yes, I only meant that wordle is a little good thing as a puzzle I enjoy solving. :jigsaw:

And apparently the strike is now over, so carry onā€¦ (I would not have known about it either, except for several people on my various social medias who keep track of these things. :woman_shrugging:)

Speaking of strikesā€¦

Canada Post is on strike, which means no letter mail going in or going out. So Iā€™m not sure what to do, as I have claimed 2 ATCs that will now more than likely not reach their destinations on time. @thanate, is it possible for me to get an extension on the ATCs I have claimed, until the strike is over? Perhaps I can still make them and send a photo while the strike is still on?

We do not have an alternative for letter mail in Canada, so I really have no way to send theseā€¦ I suppose thereā€™s the option to use UPS to send a package, but for an ATC that will be exceedingly expensive.

If any fellow Canadians have any suggestions, Iā€™m all earsā€¦ @Cindy

Go ahead and make them and hold on to them until the strike is over. If it goes over two weeks we will call for an Angel and you can send them when its over. There wonā€™t be any marks against you. Fingers Crossed it clears up quickly and you are back swapping again.

Thank you so much

Ok, I said this in the pm thread, but repeating here: I assume this also applies to cards sent into Canada, so while from this side we can put things in the mail, we shouldnā€™t expect them to arrive in a timely manner. If you are sending to @LindyBlues, make sure to take a photo of your card before sending! If the strike goes on long enough to mess with deadlines, I may ask you to post a spoilered photo of anything languishing in the mail as interim proof of sending.

(ETA, since I already have a card in strike limbo from last month, Iā€™ve claimed LindyBlues so that hers is no longer the last list, & US swappers are free to jump in w/o worrying about all this)

I wish I had an idea, with Canada Post being the only letter carrier thereā€™s nothing to do but wait. Whenever they strike, itā€™s always just before Christmas

Maybe thatā€™s intentional. Which is, Iā€™m sure, even more frustrating.

Thanks for sharing your collection! It was great to see, especially as I wasnā€™t entirely sure what altered playing cards meant, e.g. how much of the original card should be showing. This gives me a great overview of how to make one. Which is great, because somehow Iā€™ve ended up with about 5 decks of playing cards in my house, and weā€™re not card players, really :joy:

Oooh; I love the neon frog, and the watercolour flower is beautiful as well! I especially like the background on both of these. They complement the subjects so nicely and really makes them pop!

@jellybean, such a cute little ghost!

@gozer, @thanate, @bluebird, and @curiousfae, thank you all so much for your understanding and patience as Canada Post continues their strike. As frustrating as it is, Iā€™ve looked a bit more deeply into it, and I do hope the workers get what theyā€™re asking for, especially the rural workers up North. :crossed_fingers:t4:

@gozer, what a beautiful turtle!

And in administrative notes, we have reached the End of November, and what with everyoneā€™s recent claim levels & holiday mail volumes & the ongoing Canada Post strike Iā€™m thinking maybe we take a break for December & see where we are in the new year. Any objections?

Good point @thanate ! Thanks for organizing. You deserve a break! See you next year.

Iā€™m glad your daughter liked the card. It was fun researching the character.

That sounds like a good idea. Enjoy your beak, and hopefully, the strike is over soon! Thanks again for hosting!
