Ongoing Ornament Swap 2021 Discussion and Gallery

I’m loving all the ornaments in this swap! It’s so fun because there are so many unique themes and takes on themes!

Organizer Note
Remember when you pm me to tell me:

who you sent to/what you sent/ when it is due

Who you received from/what it was

I’m trying really hard to keep up, but if I’ve missed anything in the claims list sent/received wise, this info will definitely help me out!

Finished an ornament for @Lothruin last night. On to the next one!

In postal drama, the ornament I made for @Camelama is apparently moving again. It has now checked in and out of various postal facilities across the U.S. no less than 16 times in 10 days. The expected arrival date has changed at least 4 times. (And now, no expected arrival date is being quoted at all.) Crazy!

@AIMR Definitely beautiful dancing star
@Cindy Both are beautiful, but I really love the colors of the owl.
@endymion The heart reminds me of stained glass in the shapes. A wonderful addition.

Oh my gosh, such wonderful ornaments again this year. You all are so talented! I’m late to the party, but better late than never, right?

So happy you are joining the party!

I have all three of my claims packaged up and am taking them to the post office tomorrow (oh, wait… oops! today… since it’s after midnight). Hopefully I can get another claim or two in before the swap period ends!

I like what I made for everyone even though I did struggle with direction and also my hot glue gun (I always forget how bad I am at hot gluing things until I pull out my hot glue gun again  ). Hopefully my recipients will like their items! :crossed_fingers:

I think we must have been psychically connecting when we made our flamingo ornaments, @AIMR. The beaded legs are almost identical!

Beautiful flamingo! The subtle sequins are a delight.

Not so subtle in person….

I received a sweet ornament from @Lynx, commemorating our move.

We are moving to a snowier place, and will be moving during wintertime, so the snow-globe effect is perfect! The cute button on the hanger boosts its homey appeal.

Did you use glass paints? Don’t know if it shows in the pictures, but the blue and light green painted parts appear semi-transparent.

Thanks so much, Lynx!

Hey all! Only a few more days left to claim for this year! I know last year we extended a month, and with swapping available the way we are used to, we could technically do a round in November, but I honestly don’t think I can keep up with two months back to back. So, get all your claiming in now! I’ll make the last claim before I head to bed on Sunday. (EST).

Maybe @GatorWrangler will be able to host her sweat shoppe Ornament swap this year?

If people want to have another round for Nov and someone wants to host, that’s okay with me. Otherwise, keep the claims coming and we’ll meet up again next Oct!

Beautiful flamingo!

was it a postal desk at a grocery store by any chance? i was going to mail my ornament much earlier in the week at the one spot, which usually takes NO TIME AT ALL, or grief for lettermail…except this time where the mauling process and 20 questions was in full swing…so i left in about as much of a huff as the clerk (who was less than polite to start with, if we’re being honest here…) always pleasant to be wished a “good day” in the most passive aggressive way possible. the only thing saving her was my wearing an identifiable uniform…lol

down to the regular p.o. yesterday to do the deed, where, that’s right, they DO bend over backwards to make it fit. problem solved. and no nosey questions asked about my letter.

*ETA - as always, an outstanding gallery filled with superb awesomeness!! all y’all make the most fantastic stuff!! so very inspiring!!

No, it was the main post office in our community. I’m learning she has a reputation for doing this though. I sent the ornaments with just stamps and they arrived fine.

glad they made it alright!!

the last thing i ever want to do is argue with someone about stupid stuff like what in the envelope, especially after i told you three times, “its a card, with an ornament.” dont be angry with me when i tell you i dont have time for this right now, esp after i had to wait ten minutes for you to even come to the counter.

i’m still a little annoyed that i cant print off the online shipping label for US/international packages any longer…just the customs page that gives you the QR code or whatever, then you still have to stand in line and go through the motions…ah well, it is what it is.
