Technical drawing isn’t my strongest artistic suit, so I’ve purchased several How to draw books to help me. I am a little more than halfway through a How to Draw Animal books, using optical illusion-esque as a background.

The iguana or the frog… Cant decide
Oh my goodness. I have a healthy frog obsession! I’m in love with the frog

It’s hard to pick a favourite, but I think the frog speaks to me the most.

Ooh, the frog is hypnotic but love that fish! Great saturation of colour.
The guinea pig was my second try. I don’t love it at all, but I also am not a fan of guinea pigs. It’s background, however, is one of my favorites.
I love the coloring of the fish and frog! The optical illusion backgrounds are super cool!
I’m kind of enamored of how friendly the spider looks!
Do you start with the main drawing first then do the background? I am so used to projects that start with the background…
I’ve been starting with the main drawing then adding the background after. I need a blank canvas for the drawing, and I “hop” over and around to do the background.
I love how much the spider seems to be in perspective with the tiled style background!
