Otter & Bunny Paintbrush Rests

I made this otter paintbrush rest for @photojenn for a private swap. And as lomg as I was making one, I decided to make a bunny as well. The bunny will be offered in my STS shop this fall.

These little ones are paperclay painted with watercolors and sealed with UV resin so they’re water resistant. The idea is that you rest your paintbrush on them while you’re painting rather than just laying your brush on a table where it can roll around.

Thank you!

Those are adorable!

I have looked at a lot of paintbrush rests lately as my life could really use one… or two… and I had not considered paper clay till now. And I am deep in a weird paper mache project for a swap so my brain just said “Duh!”

Do you have a recommendation for UV resin? That is something I don’t have that I might want to get here soon…

I love your little paintbrush holders. They are perfect for artists like Jenn who paint a lot!

Thank you, @TheMistressT, @AIMR, @madebyBeaG!

@MamaRhi - thank you! I use this resin:
Amazon.com. It’s easy to work with and inexpensive. Just be aware that resin will wreck any brush you use with it so only use dispoable brushes or one you’ll dedicate to using resin (Though it’s goung to be stiff and immovable after the first use. I use my dedicated brush anyway.). I can’t wait to see what you make!

Thanks for the warning! I have a collection of cheap brushes that get sacrificed for these things, so I am well prepared!

Have you tried using those cheap silicon brushes? Nothing sticks to them I use them mostly for glue.

They are adorable

And that bunny really made me laugh

These are so cute. I want to tickle to otter’s tummy.
