Made these for my BIL’s family, based on their favorite things.

I think the only craft projects I’ve completed this year have been ornaments!

Those are adorable. Are they your own pattern? The little flowers are perfect and I like the eye glint you included on the hedgehog.

The llama is totally my own design.

The hedgehog was adapted from Happy the Hedgehog, available at Downeast Thunder Farms’ website.

I altered the pattern in a few ways:

  1. Added a second foot.
  2. Added the flowers.
  3. Changed the pattern so that the brown color sits on top of the tan color.
  4. Eliminated the stitched quills.

On both the llama and the hedgehog, I used some wool felt that I had washed in hot, soapy water so that it got all bumpy and added to the texture.

The koala I adapted from a Lia Griffith pattern.

Alterations include:

  1. Changed the ears. And the shape of the head/neck/body.
  2. Changed the plant to look more like eucalyptus and added the flowers.
  3. Changed the layers and the way things stacked and attached.
  4. Eliminated the cheeks.

On all of the package topper ornaments, I used sequins + seed beads for the eyes. (The glint in the hedgehog’s eye is actually light reflecting off the sequin.)

The eagle is a total copy of the actual sports team logo.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone!

These are so sweet and lovely! I love that they are each unique to the recipient, and that they can use them as ornaments for years to come.

I got a birthday card when I was a kid like the koala ornament. The writing was on the tummy and the arms folded over to ‘close’ the card.

It’s a sweet little ornament and I live the hedgehog too.
