I haven’t made it to a zoom in ages, but when I do, I just follow along with the video. I rarely get a chance to preview it and so I wing it. For me it’s a chance to just make art alongside some lovely people
I guess I am usually looking for style and techniques that speak to me.
Sometimes I go into an art zoom with a preconceived idea and sometimes not. I generally do watch the videos ahead of time since I am picking them. I usually tend to follow along mostly and if I really like it or want more practice will do it again and deviate more.
cute dresses @Smmarrt
@Renstar lovely page. what did you use for the circles?
@photojenn those colors are awesome. I haven’t tried that paper yet.
The circles were drawn on cardboard and cut out, then I removed the centres with a craft knife, hence the wonkiness. Look out for them appearing in a future more grungey piece of work.
Thank you! It’s a mix of lunar blue, quin gold, and buff titanium.
Do you have any of the Khadi paper? And/or would you like me to send you a couple pieces?
For the zooms, and most of the art I make, I end up following along with the video pretty closely.
I just recently started to dip my toe into looking for inspiration photos and using them as a visual reference for watercolors. It’s a skill I’d like to work more on because I think it will make the things I create feel more like “mine” vs copying what someone else did.
Good question!
Your work just gets better and better. I love the most recent ‘leaves’? Are they leaves.
Leaves is a strange word, leafs makes much more sense.
I agree on both accounts… @photojenn has really created some beautiful pieces and has evolved quite a lot in her style and technique…and “leaves” is/are odd…Let’s just start using “leafs”…ha ha
Thank you both ![]()
@jemimah gets so much of the credit for helping me get painting again and pushing me out of my comfort zone. She’s the best!
I am trying to write my artist bio for the humane society and I have drawn a blank!! Help…
what are the dot flicks we do called…the messy thing with tapping the paintbrush???
Splatters?
omg thanks I am on a deadline!!!
I like the term “dot flicks”
oh I don’t! a couple pieces would be awesome!
I used paint splatters…I think most non-crafting readers can get that
A couple of journal pages I worked on today.
And my next junk mail gem! The post office sent me a catalog. It’s pretty sturdy paper. Working on base layers
I love the postal catalogs! My current art journal is one, and that rabbit one almost just became my gluebook.
I’m hoping Kiala Givehand hosts the New Years’ Eve craft-along again this year. But I have plenty of Wanderlust and Fodder School lessons to work on. Wanderlust 2021 & 2022.
I’m scattered lately and can’t seem to follow thru on anything. So short and sweet crafts/lessons are what I’m looking for.
I’m the queen of collecting art classes and not focusing on them, so I can relate. I’m hoping she hosts the NYE event as well, I’ve really enjoyed them the last 2 years.
I send holiday & birthday cards as a part of the Angel Network (store bought cards because it’s faster) and I want to include some affirmation cards. Like the lips I made earlier this year, I used a mini gel plate in a mug shape.
I bought one set of the mini shapes for my mom but she never used them and I found another set at the creative reuse store. They are very easy to work with.
