Paper & Mixed Media Craftalong 2020

I love how the circles got shading based on where more coffee was sitting. To my eyes, the stripey one creates an optical illusion of the text being distorted around or inside the circles!

I tried flavored teas but the pink tea didn’t stay pink and the blue didn’t stay blue

. I want to try eco dyeing but I just don’t have enough space to do a big batch. I’ve seen that avocado pits and skins makes a pink hue. One day….

I did a thing inspired by some recent posts here

Not sure what I’ll do with it since it’s taller than most journals… but it was fun trying a new artsy format :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Clickable closer-ups:

I also jumped on the fodder bandwagon (by the way, the free classes are expiring soon!) and after watching the paper dolls video I made my own… :joy:

Human heads/faces aren’t really my thing but this bird got me started! I might even make more  I didn’t know what to do about the feet so I just left them

@Smmarrt that coffee dying is so clever! I can’t wait to see what gorgeous things you make with it. You are such an inspiration with sharing all the fabulous techniques and process you find :sparkles: :rainbow:

@Reinikka those pieces are so pretty! The bird is wonderful, what a cool take on the paper doll idea!

Did I post that I had a go at the paper doll idea (apologies if I already posted this)

Thanks! They feel so far from my regular aesthetic but they were fun to make :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@Reinikka double-inspired me with posting the critter-dolls AND sending me stickers of deer faces, which were just waiting for this kind of thing:

I’ll trim up the antler areas more closely once I know what these will be stuck to.

ETA: oops, I needed to add their tails!

Hey guys… so apparently one of my friends likes my birdie creations and wants them  They are too flimsy on their own so I’m playing with ideas to make them more artsy/displayable…?

Anyway… Would this be too busy? I’m making layered “waves” in the lower left and upper right corners then I think a border of one solid color (or one masterboard) around the whole piece.

Opinions welcome! :kissing_heart:

A bit busy. How about pasting that fabulous weirdness to a plainer piece of paper then a masterboard frame around that?

I thought about that but wasn’t sure if it would be too plain  But I can try! It’s sitting on white now, but I’m wondering if another light, light, light color would be better? …I’ll play with it more tomorrow. Thanks for the input!
