Paper & Mixed Media Craftalong 2022

I’m looking at the classes offered by Alisa Burke… I signed up for three last year and only finished one  but I’m thinking about getting some more anyway :upside_down_face: If any of you have taken these and loved or not loved them I would appreciate your opinions before I spend the money. I’m looking at: Doodle Petite (the one I believe I’ve been seeing posts about recently), Journal Petite, Ocean Alchemy (I almost bought this one last year…), Woodland Whimsy, and the Bundle of Five (Florals)… They all look tempting!

I really enjoyed the Doodle Petite. I sometimes just need to do something small and fun while watching tv or just to get inspired to do something.

I enjoy her classes because I like how she has you prep your journals ahead of time. I can spend a mindless hour or so just painting the pages. I can then flip through them to find a page I want to do a lesson on.

I am doing one of the floral ones now and enjoy the simplicity of most of them. I am finding that I am developing some go to shapes and ideas that make themselves automatically appear when I do other pieces.

I like that there are no “rules”…I struggle with lessons when there are too many things to think about. I just like doing things intuitively…if I have to analyze what I am doing, I lose my mojo!

The Doodle Petite looks like a fun class and it’s only $10. I might try that.

Of her classes that I’ve gotten, doodle petite is my favorite. It combines a lot of things from her other classes (chasing freedom, doodle it out, journal petite) and the small page sizes are great.

I agree with everyone here. Chasing freedom was the first of hers I did with the 30-day format and I really enjoyed it. I also loved the small size of journal petite. Doodle petite combined a lot of things I loved about both and was my favorite.

I shy away from any class that is too drawing-heavy or requires anything to look like something. I’m also not super into collage.

I also have her flower journal and watercolor doodles classes but haven’t really dug into them yet!

I did her Doodle It Out last year and am working my way through Doodle Petite now. Personally, I am finding many similarities between the two, even the same examples in one lesson, so not sure it was worth buying this one. Maybe it’s time to try another instructor.

The only one of these I’ve taken is Doodle Petite, and I really enjoyed it. I’m not a draw-er, but I found the small scale really accessible and less intimidating.

Thank you everyone!

I never finished Chasing Freedom but I guess I have access to it forever.
I bought the Doodle Petite class. The array of choices is utterly overwhelming but you’re all saying that one is a fave.
We have 2 or 3 more trips this summer & then I’ll be back in the basement getting my craft on

I totally forgot I had purchased Chasing Freedom! When you get done summering, let me know when you start back up…I will do it with you!

I am doing the Alisha Burke flowers class…got a bit carried away as I watched Hidden Assets, a really intense Belgian police drama!

These are Lesson #1—simple flowers (round).

Yesss! Love them! I keep meaning to start. We are heading to the Jersey Shore for a week tomorrow. Debating on what craft supplies to bring and if my paints are too much…

Do you use watercolors or water-soluble crayons at all? You can make yourself custom “dot cards” with tube watercolors or scribble some water-soluble crayons (Neocolor II, stabillo woodies, watercolor pencils, etc) on card stock then you just need a brush and water (or a water brush).

My travel art kit would be small journal, #2 pencil, black and white pens, water brush, and watercolors of some sort. Or you could even prep a bunch of pages in a journal and just take a few pens with you.

Great ideas! I carry a small journal in my purse with black and white pens. Most of the pages are prepped, but I leave some blank…I often write things down, to remember later on the blank pages and then paint over them later…so it is not just a journal for art but also my shopping list and appointment reminder! :slightly_smiling_face:

The red one really pops!

This is what I should have done!

Did you sign up @photojenn? I am leaning toward the Find your font class.

Not yet because I was finishing up the WLP preview. If you’re going to sign up I will too

yeah I am going to sign up. But probably won’t start it for a few days because I went back the the Nature Journal class I bought from ALisa Burke last year and never did.
