Paper & Mixed Media Craftalong 2022

I watch videos on my iPad (wish for a larger screen but we don’t have a tv) when there’s a specific spot I want to remember, I take a screen shot. It’s a record of what I wanted to try, what video it was on and which lesson on that video. I do the same when watching YouTube. Once rewatched and practised enough, just delete the photo.

Word play started today. I think I’m on my own on this one but I’ll still share so you all have a sense of the class. Today was just getting familiar with your own hand writing and writing with unusual objects (I think a repeat from chasing freedom). I’m continuing in my mini journal because the size is perfect for fitting these lessons into my day.

Stick writing:

Q-tip:

Palette knife and just messy writing:

I did another one that was just writing but it’s kind of personal so I’m not going to share. I like that she has prompts of what to write. I think this might help me work through some emotional junk in addition to creative expression (so far, anyway).

So much variety already, I really like the stick writing effect. I didn’t realize what she was going to have writing prompts too, that makes it more interesting to me. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your pages and hear how you’re liking the class.

I don’t know where tips go, or if everyone knows this already but, a quick spritz of 91% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) will remove StazOn ink (and any other solvent based ink) from your nice custom made dining room table when you accidentally drop your ink pad face down :woman_facepalming:

I keep one of these mini misters on my art cart filled with alcohol and another filled with water (labeled so I don’t grab the wrong one)

That is SO HELPFUL, thank you!

I love those misters. I put inks in them.
for water and alcohol I use the sample eye glass cleaner spray bottles I get whenever I go to the eye doctor.

Ha! My dining room table needs more than a spritz. Luckily it is NOT custom made.

Thanks for the tip!

Scribble writing:

I could have kept going with this one. Prompts I used (a loose combination of): write about things you are grateful for, write about your role models, write about the person you want to be in 10 years.

This is similar to a Fodder School lesson - scribble writing on different papers, painted or inked, to use as backgrounds for ATCs and other projects.

I need to revisit that lesson. I did it sort of half-hearted. I really don’t like my writing and think if I could find ways to disguise it, I would use it more in art work…thanks for the reminder.

some of my favorite pieces in fodder school came from that lesson.

Inky words:

(Watered down acrylic):

Still kinda feels like scribble writing but I’m liking it.

Obligatory statement about how I didn’t need to sign up for more classes but I did anyway…

You guys crack me up! Keep on signing up - we’re holding up the indie art teacher industry!

I’m all over the map - back to school, trying @jemimah 's watercolor class, watching paper crafting videos on YouTube and then making the projects (more master boards and “ink box” cards, basically 3" x 3" pieces that are extra-large twinchies), making paper dolls and lagging behind on my paid art classes. But having fun. I’ll try to post some pics tonight.

That was pennies compared to what @photojenn has cost you
