Paper & Mixed Media Craftalong 2022

I think you would enjoy it and I’d love to see your results! There are some repeats from other classes, but for $10 I’m not complaining. I use the classes/prompts as a push to do something arty, not just to learn something new. So, a repeat lesson is ok with me, especially since the context is slightly different and so the output is varied. I also learn through the repetition!

She is repetitive throughout all her classes BUT her prices are very reasonable and maybe that is why. Also, repetition helps make it stick!

When things are less crazy I really want to do the flower class @AIMR did

We are 3 hours in and so far this is all we’ve done. And she didn’t demo it, just showed it and said we should copy. So far, not impressed unfortunately. Hopefully we start painting soon.

That’s disappointing - hope it picks up soon! You lettering looks really cool in any case :slightly_smiling_face:

I think @Abbeeroad sold me on the lettering class, too. But I have so many things to catch up on - 2 Dina Wakley classes, Fodder School, Wanderlust (from last year!) and my own things that I want to try. Why, oh why do I have to work all the time? Those darn kids can watch themselves, right?

It looks great but that sucks about the lack of instruction.

Yeah, it was super weird. In the last 15 min she ran through a bunch of homework in warp speed that we were are supposed to do for tomorrow and asked someone why they weren’t paying attention when they asked a question. Apparently tomorrow we will be making pages all day :crossed_fingers:

homework in a class like that would annoy me. I would expect to “do” everything in class.

I am in training for work again. 3 day class. The instructor while nice and knowledgeable talks SO much we get behind and skip breaks and then have homework and it’s really pissing me off. the class is 10-6 my time and I am signing into work from 7-10 and it’s made for 3 very long days. I have 42 minutes left and I have mentally checked out.

We have learned while she is not vegan, she orders a vegan meal service for her lunches to save time and make sure she eats healthy and doesn’t have that afternoon slump.

We had a discussion on macaron vs macaroon and how do Americans say it (she is Chinese, living in Canada, and also speaks french). This conversation was actually funny because a guy from India thought she meant macaroni and was was like - just call it pasta.

We learned about her hiking adventures, her musical background, her OOP background, her super smart coworker Steve, blah blah blah

Wow, even if she’s nice that’s pretty appalling from a teaching POV. I haven’t done that much teaching, but one thing I think is super important is to respect people’s time!

Wow. TMI.
I had a teacher in college that didn’t give us a syllabus until 3/4 of the way through the class. It seemed most days that she was winging it, but not in a fun way. It was more of an “idc” way. When the college wanted an evaluation of the class at the end, mine was very accurate. It also was not kind, I seriously learned nothing in that class. Waste of time and money.

Thanks! That’s what I did to distract myself last night before bed.

Every time I sit down to clean my desk, I don’t really clean - I just rearrange piles of stuff. But I found lots of cardstock and other junk mail bits.

So I cut a bunch of masks. Working on gel printing this afternoon after a short trip to the laundromat.

I’ve been working on cleaning off my work from home area and watching the Great British Bake Off. You’ve inspired me to cut up some masks from junk mail and enveloples!
