Paper & Mixed Media Craftalong 2022

I don’t know numbers but I’ve always read you need a sharp heavy duty needle - like jeans/denim needles.

That makes sense. I should probably take a pic of the needle that’s on there now so I can zoom in and see what it is since it has been working well.

Not sure where to post this but since it’s on my art cart I’ll put it here.

I’ve been looking for a way to add more functionality to my art cart by hanging stuff off of it. I got these hooks from IKEA for like $1 but they were loose and slid around and would fall off when I grabbed my scissors, heat tool, etc so I cut some small strips of non-sticky backed fun foam and wedged it between the clips and the cart to hold them in place. It works great and since they’re not stuck to the cart I can move them around as my needs change.

I use whatever is on my machine…the larger needles do make bigger holes…I guess it depends on what you are doing…a 14 is usually my go-to…it seems to sew on everything…

I do have specialty needles but they are kept in a safe place.

Great way to make those hooks more functional! I am still clearing out supplies…hoping by the new year to be rid of holiday decorations I don’t use and crafting supplies that no longer appeal to me…

I use an all-purpose needle - seems to work for me if I remember to use just a tiny bit of glue to attach things.

I have a cart - still in the box. I hope to get it together over winter break so these are all good ideas for me - thanks.

Sorry - this was a response to @AIMR

Day 13 - thoughtful

I’d never have thought of carving it backwards

Is it weird to save the neon pink stretchy bandage from my blood test today?

Sure you would! It just might have been after you carved it wrong-way-around first. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thank you! I can really see improvements in both my carving and stamping already. Doing a stamp everyday has been challenging but fun. I’m really looking forward to the group shot of all of my stamps and making a flip through clip of my workbook at the end of the month.

I think the baroque one is my favourite so far. It would make an awesome fabric print. Or a bleach print on a teeshirt, a stripe of this going from one shoulder down to the bottom

Any ideas for how I can easily clean the dried paint off of my scissors (preferably without injuring myself)? I like to cut the ends off of my makeup sponges so I can use them multiple times but I usually don’t wait until they’re dry to cut them. I was thinking maybe soaking the blades in something (Murphy’s oil soap?) but didn’t want to remove any coating that might be in the scissors themselves. Thoughts?

On a completely random note, I’ve started watching the Fodder School videos at 2x speed and it’s so much better. I love the techniques and a lot of the projects but some of the videos can go on a bit longer than needed.

I use plain old rubbing alcohol…I put it on a clean cloth and rub in one direction, being careful around the sharp edges…

I haven’t noticed any coating coming off or getting gummy.

I tried using acrylic brush cleaner but that seems to work by soaking…Blick makes the cleaner. It is supposed to be gentler but on hard surfaces, you really have to rub the paint off basically!

Wow, it only took like 5 seconds and they look good as new! Thanks Linda!

Day 15 - the prompt was “soft”. I couldn’t decide which design I wanted to do so I carved both
