Plein Air Watercolor Supply Tote

This is a continuation of this project:

I realized that having everything magnetted to the tray and in a bag sideways would only work while all the paint in the pans is dry. Once they’re wet, things change… So, back to the drawing board!

I decided I needed a bag that would allow my pallet and all my paint pan tins to sit flat and would fit everything except my tray, easel, chair set up. I used the same pattern I used to make my purse several years ago, but I slightly altered the dimensions to perfectly fit the folding palette. Then I made it 3 inches shorter. Here’s the Pinterest link for the pattern:

My alignment got kinda screwy, but I still love it. The straps are short half because that’s how much webbing I had left and half so I do NOT throw it over my shoulder absent mindedly and knock everything inside over sideways.

The whole set up:
Easel tripod in bag with strap
Folding stool with strap
Butcher tray and drawing board (working on some sort of strap for these)
Bag of everything else

Hopefully I can get an action shot in the wild soon…

Thanks!

Our local watercolor society has paint out events during the warmer seasons that I am hoping to get away from work for. Having an easy way to cart stuff around is going to encourage me to get out and paint with the group and out on my own more. I really need to get a quick sketch painting practice going.

Fantastic solution to your issue. I think I like the shorter handles better than long ones.
