Quiet Book for our Grandson

Our grandson turns 2 this month and his mom asked if I’d make him a Quiet Book (she mentioned it to our son in January and he forgot to tell me so I only received the request two weeks in advance, I got it done in time. I don’t think they are expecting it though as I made quite an issue of having short notice)

Some ideas came from the book I made our grand daughter, some from websites and some from my head.

The grand daughter who has the other one (she’s 6 now) saw it yesterday and declared each page perfect and said ‘he’s going to love it’

I looked at the one you made your granddaughter and saw some of the same elements but you created them differently! So talented and imaginative.

I love the I Spy on both of them…and the counting umbrella!

It turned out SO GREAT! I’ve been watching in anticipation of the finish & you did not disappoint. Fabulous concepts & fabrication, really excellent work. It’s so special, Cindy.

I almost remade the umbrella page because I had it paired with sharks, once I changed to bugs I was happier with it.

Such a great gift/book!! Lots of interesting activities!!

Very neat to see the “I-Spy” bubble in the book. I recall buying a toy like that for one of my friends from the art board who had a young daughter - such a neat idea!

I bought a two sided I spy at a Christmas sale years ago, long after my sons were grown, just because I thought it was a neat idea. That was my inspiration for making the ones for the book two sided. It took a lot of thought making the first one, figuring out how to line everything up and keep it sealed. This time it went much quicker.

and will provide hours of enjoyment!!

What things did you hide in the “bubbles” to be found? I know there is a carrot and something I think looks like a dinosaur.

This book is great!
My mom made me one when I was tiny. All my brothers got to play with it, and I’m pretty sure we still have it around somewhere.
Mine had a very similar buttons page, it sure brought back memories.

I’m hoping this one and the first one I made stay around after they grow up.

This is lovely. As an adult, who fidgets and loves tactile things, I approve! While I love reading to my little nieces and nephews, something like this would just be so satisfying to go through with them. Great job!
