Thanks for finding it @Tanath!!

I do most binding by machine, especially when the quilt needs to be washed. My hand stitching isn’t that sturdy apparantly because they tend to come loose.

Wow you guys are chatty! I go away for one day and come back to 46 new posts in the thread!

@MistressJennie how did the making 8HST at once go? And 2.5" Leaders and enders are a much better idea than the 1" ones I’ve been using.

@marionberries I love the detail in that yellow square.

@AIMR those Christmas fabrics are great

@wereradletshug that circuit board quilt is awesome!!

LOL. I was wondering if I could figure out how to add machine embroidery to some of mine. Maybe I’ll do a whole quit like that at some point…

Meanwhile, since I was going over to the quilt shop to pick up black fabric, I pulled out my box of quilt WIPs. I knew I had a vintage unfinished quilt top that was donated to WKU’s costume shop along with a bunch of vintage fabric. The shop had no use for it, so I took it home. I wanted to see what size it was so I could maybe pick up batting and backing. But in doing so I found quilt blocks from a swap on Deadster, circa 2010? I had plans for a quilt for a room in our home there, but the blocks I got from my 3 different partners were so wildly different, that they just didn’t mesh together, so a few got turned into an art quilt, and the rest have been languishing. Neither set alone was enough to do a whole quilt, but looking at them now, I think I could make them into 2 separate quilts, either by adding sashing, or adding plain black blocks in between.

I have 25 of these blocks, and quarter pieces that could be used in corners of the borders or something.
The whole thing would go well in our living room now. I think I’m going to add sashing between them all to make it a bit bigger, and add a border.

And I have 21 of these, with a few misc partial squares. This one would need some black blocks to make it big enough to be a whole quilt.

Wow. What a find. Your ideas sound wonderful.

Thank you! So I should use both colors? The green definitely goes with my decorating colors more, and that blue is a nice, bright contrast to the rest!

The first one looks Asian themed to me!!! It is so gorgeous! I remember making that block on Deadster for someone else…maybe for Carol? I really like them without the sashing between…is there anyway you can make blocks with those colors and intersperse them? I see some areas that could use a bit more of the red? I think fat borders with these in the center would be nice…

The second one is not as busy with pattern…a couple of the blocks (on the left with the two halves the same…) could be moved…two in a row like that stands out…that one, I think sashing would be fine!

Beautiful pattern…the ones I did were all Christmas fabrics, but I think I might try one in the colors of your first one…it is striking!

I’d use both but if the green goes best, use more of that and a bit of blue for pop.

HEED THE CALL. Great stitching!

I think I will have to try this on a small mug rug first, because I still can’t wrap my head around it. I’m sure once I work step by step it will make more sense.

Also, a warm shout out to MareMare and Belladune. (From the link) Both good eggs.

I poetrylover828 submit this as my January BOM entry. I’ve made a sawtooth block before but it’s always fun to make things again. (I think I needed to press a little better for everything to line up better butttt I’m a very it’s done that’s enough quilter )

I am planning on doing a very scrappy quilt. I think I will pick my fabrics to match the month they are for. Or at least to what the month makes me think.

Thanks again! Now I’ll have to hit the fabric store. If I’m organized, I might be able to go tomorrow!

ETA: I just cut a swatch of each so I could have them with me. Hopefully my morning goes smoothly!

@Lynx @marionberries thank you!! The prints are from Lorri Holts Christmas line a couple years ago. I thought the yellow and teal colors helped make it feel like “oh it’s still winter but we are heading back to spring”

I’m going to need to find some good heart fabrics for next month. Or maybe just some cute florals.

I don’t quilt, or sew at all, really, so I didn’t read through it. I’m just good at digging up stuff online, so I hope it can help others
