In all seriousness, Jim & I are thinking very strongly of moving. To another state. So even though I was already stash busting and trying to work off some of the supplies I already own, now I just don’t want anything else in my house that I’d have to pack!

And edit to add… I just bumped into this pattern. I had been trying to stash bush Halloween fabric, but ended up acquiring more. Might try something simple like this to use up a bunch of the rest.

No buying more fabric to finish that! Use It Or Lose It has you covered. Seriously, make yourself a promise, moving is intense with dog & babe!

No way a trip to MO is cheaper than shipping, lol! More fun maybe…

Lol, I have to agree with you. I can’t even imagine how much shipping would have to be to offset that cost!

No, you misunderstand. I’m not worried about buying more. I already acquired more while making my current Halloween quilt. Small bits and bobs here and there.

I initially had a small stash of Halloween stuff, and thought it would be plenty to make a quilt, but it was too much of some things, not enough of others. Then some of the purple & orange that came from stash was literal scraps that I ran out of, after say 2 blocks, so I ended up with 3 or 4 more fat quarters of purple and orange (non-Halloween specific stuff) to keep going with the real Halloween fabrics. So after making 15 blocks, I now somehow have more than I did originally.

Since I truly am trying to downsize, I thought that quilt pattern I linked above would be a good way to use up most of the rest of the stuff, because it lends itself to being scrappy. That way if I don’t have enough of grey fabric A as called for in the pattern, I can use more of grey fabric B, and call it good.

Oh, I understood completely. This quilt could easily lead to more fabric. So long’s you don’t end up with too much of some things, not enough of others & end up wanting more! Tap the peeps if you do :scissors:

Hmm, that stack is not quilting fabric…that is my scarf collection, had it for years, I always travel with my scarves.

That made me lol!

I really like the new bundle shipping option that MSQC now offers. It allows you to bundle a week’s worth of items while only paying one flat rate shipping price. There was one charm pack that I knew I for sure wanted at least two of and figured I’d better order quick before they run out of stock (there are 7 pages of charm packs and 3.5 pages are already sold out), so I ordered it with the ‘bundle shipping’ option. I now have until the end of the sale today and the rest of the week to add any additional items - all for the one shipping rate! Let’s hope they have some good daily deals coming up!

I have far more quilting cotton than I should for someone who barely sews but those charm packs are so tempting! Hopefully they all sell out before I succumb to ordering.

I just pulled out the backing and sashing material for the mostly BOM quilt. Whew, I had to do some digging. I knew I had a larger piece of black I had been saving. Found it all. And I have enough padding. Life is good.
I had to pause and work on the last bit for my new Trunk or Treat decorations. Halloween is fast approaching.

Actually the international shipping isn’t outrageous. Just to see what it looked like, 8 charm packs plus one jelly roll was $40, shipping to Ireland. However for me it wouldn’t stop there as there are import duties. If the goods and shipping come to about $200 I would have to pay about another $60 in taxes. Which is a great deterrent from buying more fabric from the US -she’s says while hiding the FQ and yardage that arrived in the mail yesterday from a European shop-

All this talk of the crazy costs of shipping is making me think I should hold another round of the Scrappy Mail Swap. Maybe do a holiday theme this time so people could craft small projects for gifts and decorations? Or 5" Charm Squares instead of Mini Charms just to change it up? Not sure…

But I am sure the $1.40 stamp could get a couple pretty squares to Ireland or Canada!

I do a lot of shopping with Wool Warehouse. Their shipping to the USA is so reasonable and quick. I think it was free in the UK. I know they have fabric…I just did a massive clean up and inventory of my fabrics and just need to stop! (But, I can still look and dream!)

Me too! I get all of my crochet yarn from them (Stylecraft Special DK). Great prices and fast shopping. Cheaper than buying from US merchants.

I love that yarn…and they keep introducing new colors without discontinuing some of the most popular colors (like turquoise!)…the two last afghans I made (The Harbor Blanket), were kits from them…the shipping was about $6!

I used to buy a lot from British webshops, before Brexit! Their shipping is still reasonable but now we have to pay VAT on top of that price. Fabric is much cheaper in the US, so what I usually do is every other year I order one big online purchase, slightly under €150. If the price is more than €150 we have to pay import dues as well as VAT but as long as the purchase price is lower, we only pay VAT. My last order was $120 incl. $25 shipping but it seems shipping is getting more and more expensive.
