Since you can only have one small in each category, I counted your ATCs toward the small challenge entry and used your skulls as the small personal finish. By the way, I love your scribble stitch technique!
I just make it up. I draw it first, then cut out the pieces and start scribbling away.
Hmm. Maybe i could do one and make a tutorial? I’ll have to work on that!
Today’s nap time creation: itty bitty Economy Blocks! They are just 2.5”! I’m going to use them as cornerstones with my 14” faceted sapphire block.
@AudiobookLover, when I scrolled up to the beginning of September, it said the prompt was circles. Is it circles or squares? If it is circles, do my faceted jewel blocks count for this month’s Circle’s prompt?
Thank you for catching that! August was squares, September is circles. Yes, your faceted jewel blocks would definitely count towards this month’s prompt. I have added it to the tracking sheet.
October Prompt: Triangles
For the shape prompts, the monthly shape needs to be highlighted. This can be done in a variety of ways. For example, if the shape is a square, you could make a square patchwork quilt. You could quilt a pattern that features squares. You could create a quilt block using square patterned fabric. Whatever you do, just have fun and make the monthly shape shine!
Diamond Square Block - nominated by AudiobookLover
This block can be easily sized up or down by changing the size of the HSTs. The block above uses 5" HSTs and makes an 18" finished block. 3.5" HSTs will give you a 12" finished block. HST sizing charts
Quarter 4 Challenge
(October 1-December 31) The Spirit of Giving
Quilt a gift for someone, or use gifted materials in an item that you quilt.
Goal List:
Please share your fourth quarter goals with us. You can earn an entry into the prize drawing for every goal you share and complete this quarter!
I didn’t get any of my Q3 goals or Sept challenge done. But! I’m off to a great start for this month! I happen to have a whole chain of half square triangles (64 of them) just sitting in a pile on my dresser for a few years. So I cut 16 off to make the challenge block and put the rest onto an empty TP roll so they’re no longer a tangled mess. I’ll post my Q4 goals shortly.
Fourth Quarter Goals
-Make Forest Friends Baby Quilt for little Max. (Maybe 2 quilts, 1 to donate.)
-Catch up on my BOMs
-Finish D&D mug rug & coffee warmer for Jim (now for Christmas).
-Make Ada’s ‘Ghost’ Quilt.
-Finish 1 “unexpected” Harry Potter kids quilt for donation (smaller cream/teal/brown needs borders, quilting and binding)
-Finish 1 “expected” Harry Potter kids quilt for donation. (just needs binding)
-Finish paper pieced heart table topper for my parents anniversary.
-Make sapphire pillow or wall quilt out of round gemstone block.
-Stashbust: make at least 1 quilt, of any size, out of all scraps/stash fabric.
I’ve gotten myself so busy with two swaps, a bedroom makeover, fall garden chores, and helping paint rooms at our church.
I have a quilt top to finish, another to sandwich, and several other little projects. I thought I retired!
Goals:
1.Finish baby quilt before friend has an 8th. Wait… 9th! Whew.
2. Plan Auntie’s memorial items from her clothes, I have bags of plaid shirts to work with.
When we met she had 3 & 2 step. She & new hub had a baby together, I made a quilt. Then they had another, another quilt. Then this last one, I’m still cutting & stitching up snowball patches. Help me… I’ve created an unsustainable tradition!
No need to disclose your top secret swap item, but I do hope you’ll share once it’s received!
Also, if anybody has additional goals pop up throughout the quarter, feel free to either add them to your original goal list or create a new post with your new goals.
October BOM: done! My stash of half square triangles were mostly 1 3/4" but a couple were smaller, so I trimmed them to 1.5". My block finished at 4.5" square
Maybe I should have had the whites and greens swapped around. Too late now and, while it’s true I’ve got plenty more HSTs, I probably won’t try this again lol.
