My department at work do a charity craft sale each winter to raise money for a hedgehog rescue charity. This year I made some More Tissue Cases, and then decided to make some scrappy quilted bookmarks.
I joined scraps together into pieces of various sizes, then cut them down to make bookmark fronts. But I kept ending up with the nachos problem; I could then use the offcuts to start another bookmark, by adding more scraps. It was never ending. Eventually, I had to stop myself from getting more scraps out, and only use the ones on my desk.
A good technique for making them look cohesive was to pair a scrappy strip with black or a solid. I then quilted them in a few different thread colours.
This is some of my finished bookmarks. I made 22 in all, but some are saved for Christmas presents. No clue how much to sell them for. Maybe £2.50 each, or three for £6, mix and match with the tissue cases. We have a card reader so there won’t be loads of cash sales.
