Thanks all, I agree, to me it feels like a much neater fit with a more rustic or natural colour palette or style. It’s kind of like printing a very crisp, bold flyer on handmade paper with deckle edges. Both material and message are good, but to me they don’t sit as well together.
And yes, they are in the weave quite firmly, but I could pick individual bits out.
Also, I made a couple of little improv Quilt as you go panels over the summer, to teach myself the technique, and I needed something to do with them. When Marionberries shared this Quick and Easy Foldable Baskets project, I knew I could use them as the centre piece. They ended up huge cos I was trying to size up in inches when my brain thinks in centimetres, and I made two because I forgot that the outer is one pattern piece.
They are enormous, but have a surprising amount of structural integrity. Most of both layers are backed with firm iron on interfacing, and there’s felt behind the panels.
I’m using them to hold bits for the next (smaller
) baskets I’m making, using the same pattern.
Also, I wanted to do something with this QAYG sample, so I made this a quarter goal.
Therefore, -I LittleCogs, submit “Make the Quilt as you go basket” goal for my goal list entry. ![]()
