I’ve never heard of seeded cotton. It sounds like a name given to a production mistake tbh. Because I can’t imagine it’s comfortable.

Way back in, I knew it as slub cotton. But, it was a natural color with the dark brown flecks that poked out. I just looked it up and it is still available. It is also called Osnaberg and organic denim. I really couldn’t find quilting cottons that are called that.
I remember using unbleached cotton with seeds in it in needlework class in primary school. It was probably the cheapest fabric available, I knew it as oatmeal fabric. I agree with @Edel that it’s more likely to be a mistake than anything else. I guess in unbleached cotton or something it adds a rustic vibe, but it looks very out of place in this fabric.
Thanks all, I agree, to me it feels like a much neater fit with a more rustic or natural colour palette or style. It’s kind of like printing a very crisp, bold flyer on handmade paper with deckle edges. Both material and message are good, but to me they don’t sit as well together.
And yes, they are in the weave quite firmly, but I could pick individual bits out.
Also, I made a couple of little improv Quilt as you go panels over the summer, to teach myself the technique, and I needed something to do with them. When Marionberries shared this Quick and Easy Foldable Baskets project, I knew I could use them as the centre piece. They ended up huge cos I was trying to size up in inches when my brain thinks in centimetres, and I made two because I forgot that the outer is one pattern piece.
They are enormous, but have a surprising amount of structural integrity. Most of both layers are backed with firm iron on interfacing, and there’s felt behind the panels.
I’m using them to hold bits for the next (smaller
) baskets I’m making, using the same pattern.
Also, I wanted to do something with this QAYG sample, so I made this a quarter goal.
Therefore, -I LittleCogs, submit “Make the Quilt as you go basket” goal for my goal list entry. ![]()
It is quite lovely! I love scrappy projects like that! I also made those baskets for @jemimah a few years ago. Someone online was kind enough to share sizing information. When I find the file, I would be happy to share it here.
I love your scrappy baskets. I was going to make some for a craft fair and ran out of time. I practiced using layer cake cuts, but now I want bigger ones!
Merry Christmas Eve!
Today’s Quiltalong Bingo prompt is:
Try a new (to you) pattern
I have to play catch up this weekend with projects for this board and to check my BINGO cards! Yikes! Can’t believe how fast this quarter went!
This whole YEAR went fast.
I’m so, so behind on posting a bunch of small quilt projects I made this Quarter. I was even quilting one last gift yesterday afternoon, while the recipient kept Ada busy. A cover for a little watercolor notebook for my MIL who loves birds. I got to use some hoarded Tula prints.
I need to know how many time turners you’re currently using.
I love those little baskets so much - they are currently on my art shelf holding lots of little supplies ![]()
I, AIMR, submit this as my on-time Dec 2025 QBOM.
I now have 10 blocks, but I need at least 3 more minimum. I plan on getting at least one more done before time is up. Next year, I probably won’t be doing the blocks of the month each month because I really need to put these and others together and actually make some quilts!
I Edel submit this as a small for this quarter.
I’ve been quite frustrated at being unable to sew for the last three weeks. Any extended sewing or cutting is still beyond me. So I’m starting small. I made a wanderers wife quilt black (made a mistake but it’s still usable!)
@AIMR, I am really looking forward to seeing your blue and white quilt all put together!
Congratulations on getting that block done, @Edel! Any work toward your Wanderer’s Wife quilt is an accomplishment and getting it done while not at your best is an excellent achievement!
To everyone waiting for their third quarter prize pack (aka - the ‘Keeping it Together’ prize pack), thank you so much for your patience. I am incredibly behind and as it is, I won’t be working on them at all this week. But, I assure you I will get them done and hopefully soon!
As for the fourth quarter prize packs, I really hope a lot of you earn one!! I know this quarter has been very busy, so if an extra week or two would be helpful to finish your projects, then add a post letting me know. I truly enjoy coming up with ideas for the prize packs and then creating them and I’d love to make one for each of you!
Please don’t forget to submit your projects and message me letting me know that you’ve earned a prize by either getting 7 points, or by getting a BINGO this quarter. Speaking of - we have not yet had a bingo winner for this quarter, so if you haven’t been keeping track, check your cards - you may be a winner and not even know!

LittleBookLover and I are at our apartment for winter break. So, while I do plan on starting up the 2026 Quiltalong soon, I don’t know if I will be able to get to it until we return home (while LittleBookLover is the sweetest little boy, he’s not exactly helpful to my ability to focus - as showcased by this example:
(that’s me thinking, LittleBookLover screaming a high pitched scream because he has an outrageously fun toy, my thoughts shattering into a million tiny fragments, and the aftermath of me trying to gather up those fragments). Sooo, I may not get the 2026 Quiltalong posted until after the start of January.
Speaking of the 2026 Quiltalong - is there still interest in continuing the BOMs? Also, does anyone have suggestions of anything they would like to see incorporated into next year’s Quiltalong? I do plan on continuing with Quiltalong Bingo, the prize packs (I’ve actually already ordered supplies for at least one of next year’s prize packs), the quarterly prompts, and the monthly challenges. If you have any thoughts or ideas on any aspects regarding the Quiltalong, please do share them!
I did not participate this year, instead I quilted my house. Fitting dressers into knee walls, tetrising closet configurations, and remaking my kitchen.
I have two batches of flannel fabrics, luscious rainbow hues and tan and brown neutrals. Perfect for BOMs.
Or I can just run back through 2025 BOMs and go for it.
I enjoyed watching all the BOMs appear each month, though the number of participants has gone down over the years. I would love to participate in 2026.
@AudiobookLover we appreciate this CAL whenever it rolls into 2026. If that doesn’t happen until second quarter that’s all good. X
I doubt I got a bingo this quarter, I was focused on painting for my second solo exhibition, so I got very little sewing done. Despite my lovely new machine. Itching to get back to it.
I am working on getting a mini quilt finished in time to enter it into the holiday spectacular challenge. Wish me luck (and speed) on getting it finished quickly. ![]()
-I MistressJennie , offer Pink & Purple Mug Rugs for November’s prompt (done on time, posted late).
These went into my gift stash for future gifting.
-I MistressJennie , offer Rose Garden Mug Rug for December’s prompt
I put this together for my SIL, with nearly the last scraps of the mini layer cake used in my Rose Garden quilt.
-I your name , offer Gnome Holiday & Gryffindor Mug Rugs for my Medium 4th Quarter challenge entry.
When I was making up kits for my Mug Rug class, I decided to use two hoarded Gnome holiday prints that I’ve been hanging onto, looking for just the right project. In 4 or 5 years that never came, so I decided to just “use the good stuff” and make cute holiday Mug Rug kits with them. Two got used in class, but I came home with 2 spares, so I made those for my daughter’s preschool teachers. The Gryffindor mug rugs were made using the last of my hoarded HP fabrics from Joann’s. I was saving those because Joann’s closed. But now Michael’s carries those fabrics. So it was time to just use the good stuff, to make something for my friend’s HP obsessed tweens.
-I MistressJennie , offer Bird Notebook Cover for my small personal finish.
This was made in about an hour, for my MIL, who was sitting in the next room. I use this tutorial, which allows you to make a notebook cover to fit any size notebook. The notebook itself was of watercolor paper, and it went along with some new paints and a new painting book I got her for Christmas.
-I MistressJennie , offer Tree Ring Basket for my medium personal finish.
This simple little basket (which is actually 6" tall and 12" long) took wayyyyy too long to wrap my brain around. I tried using a new-to-me material, (iron on foam) to give it structure, and was so nervous about the actual project that I made this one as a prototype. I let myself go nuts with the quilting, just outlining the tree rings with scribbles. I almost threw it across the room a few times, but pushed through to finish it. It’s now holding cloth napkins inside the buffet in the dining room.
-I MistressJennie , offer Bumblebee Mug Rug + TUTORIAL WRITE UP for my large personal finish.
This might seem odd to be a Large, but I spent days writing up the extreamly detailed tutorial, and taking dozens of photos, editing them, and arranging everything. It was truly the most in depth quilting project I made this term, and easily took as many hours as a lap quilt.
-I MistressJennie , submit Make Mug Rug Kits for my goal list entry.
I know I took a picture of all the kits I made up, but I cannot find it anywhere. I made 13 kits for a class of 7 students. During the class, I made one as a demo, and a student who enjoyed it a great deal, bought an extra one off of me. So I came home with 4 kits. The two pink & purple, and the two holiday gnome kits. I’m reposting the pics I used above, as proof I put the kits together. Each kit contained the 12 2.5" squares for the front, backing, batting, a strip of binding, two spools of thread (piecing & binding), and a 5" “quilt sandwich” for the students to practice quilting on.
-I MistressJennie , submit Crazy Crumb Pieced Mug Rug for my goal list entry (complete WIP Mug Rug).
They are all fantastic.
