Quiltalong - 2025

My favorite quilt project is this wonky picnic quilt I made:

Sewing projects can make me anxious because if you mess them up, they’re harder to fix than just frogging a crochet/knitting project. So I made a ‘picnic’ quilt from some random fabric that had been in my stash for several years, and I didn’t try at all to make it perfect / precise.

-I didn’t iron anything because I didn’t feel like it.
-When I sewed the 3x3 squares I made together, squares of the same fabric are next to each other even though I didn’t really want them to be.
-Instead of cutting out more squares to make it larger, I sewed strips of fabric on the sides without measuring anything - just ripped the fabric to make sure I had a straight edge.
-The binding was chosen because I had enough of it in my stash, not because it matches anything.

It’s super wonky, but it’s proof (for myself) that even when you do it ‘wrong’, you can still make something decent.
