Lookie what I got as a prize! My brother was here visiting and was just as excited for me to open up this mail! Even the envelope and wrapping was done so nicely! I hope you will do a separate post on the awesome holder…the cork fabric is fantastic!
I received the same lovely package on Friday! Thank you so much much @AudiobookLover!!!
It is just awesome! It’s like several prizes in one! I am in love with the gold thread and trying to find a special project to use it. I am going to use the pocket to hold a notebook for quilt and sewing ideas once I can make myself take it apart…it is so pretty together!
Hey @AudiobookLover I’ve added screenshots of my bingo cards now, sorry for the omission, and for being offline. Last week was a lot.
For submitting things for goals, prompts, etc, I know I need to use the correct wording, but I don’t know if I need to make a whole new community post, or if a correctly formatted comment on this QAL thread is enough, would you be able to help me clarify this please? Thank you.
Oh @marionberries I love this so much. The first thing I noticed were the trees, they are really fun. And then I love the mix of “traditional” blocks and more pictoral one. I like how the HSTs at the corner of the top left block are similar to the background, which charges the shape of the block visually. It’s all so lovely.
Thank you. Most of the small tree blocks were ‘on the spot’ fillers as I assembled. All the others were either BOM or practice blocks at whatever size the pattern called for. I used a jelly roll and some stash for the stripes. I even spray bleached some solid brown to add more interest.
@AudiobookLover thank you! I received your package (didn’t get out to check mail until today) it’s all so beautiful! No pics because my package and my phone have yet to be in the same room together.
I don’t know how to feel about this quilt, on the one hand it’s really been used and used (and hopefully loved and kept people warm), on the other, it’s been left to the mercies of the weather.

I love this block! Very pretty.
Oh the little panda in the house is so adorable!! love it!
I am so glad everyone liked the prize pack I sent out! @AIMR, I’m happy to hear you plan on using the gift pocket. When I sent them out, I wondered, what will people do with the pocket once the prizes are removed? The best idea I came up with was to glue it into the front of a notebook as a pocket for…stuff? Lol. I like the idea of using it to hold an idea book.
I love that holographic thread too! It adds a fun sparkly element to projects. Linda, I remember you mentioning some tips for metallic thread and they definitely apply to this thread as well - use the spool in the upright position (as opposed to horizontal) and reduce the machine tension. More helpful hints can be found midway down this page.
@LittleCogs, thank you for updating your bingo post. No need to apologize, I hope this week is easier! When submitting goals, prompts, challenges, or whatever, you would just make a post here in the quiltalong. The only exception is that there is at least one bingo prompt that has you submit a community post. If that prompt gets called, I’ll make it clear that it is a community post rather than just a quiltalong post.
@Edel, I love seeing the pictures from your current trip! It looks like that quilt has lived quite the life and was hopefully well used before becoming an outside tarp of sorts.
Thank you for the BOM suggestion @AIMR. I also need to add the suggestions from @Magpie and @marionberries, which will take us through until August. That leaves us with four months still needing BOMs. So, if anyone would like to suggest a BOM, please do!
Thank you for that clarification, I’ll check if a couple of my posts in the thread need tweaking.
I, AIMR,submit this as my current April BOM entry. This is also one of my quarterly goals. Sticking to my blue and white theme.
Today’s bingo prompt:
Quilt something for yourself
This fabulous prize pack was waiting for me when I got home today (v early flight, so forgive any not making sense)
Doesn’t it look enticing.
And the goodies inside. @AudiobookLover is a machine embroidery genius-i mean we’ve all seen her Halloween quilts, but look at this darling pouch(ok I can’t find A better word). And all the other lovely things, beautiful fabric and thread, wonderful stickers and rotary cutter vinyl decal… And a great fabric card.
I’m posting this from bed, and it occurs to me, now, that there is probably something written on the other side of that card. But I’m so not getting out of bed to check. I’ve been travelling since 4.15am, this nap is sorely due.
Thank you so much @AudiobookLover xx
I am so glad you like the prize pack (and that you took the time to message me and add this post at 4 in the morning after hours of traveling!) and that it made it to you without too much trouble!
The vinyl decal is intended to be adhered to any hard non-porous surface. I like showing the world my love for quilting as I drive around town (and created the design so that it can go through the carwash without getting mangled):
I, AIMR, submit this quilted pouch that has been in my WIP pile for over a year, as a 2nd Qrt Challenge small project for the quarter. The front, back and handle are backed with batting and straight line quilted. I love making pouches using other crafting pieces. This one encompasses hand embroidery (the lemons), quilting, and sewing!
