You would say that you want to nominate such and such block for the BOM and then add a link to the block. So, if you could just add the link (either to your post a moment ago, or just create a new post) I will get it added as a block.
Good timing too! I was just thinking I needed to make a request for a few more block nominations.
I have found my next big project! The other day, I was browsing the Alison Glass website when I came across her Cozy Workshop. I was instantly intrigued by the name (cozy? I love cozy!) and as I looked into it, I was even more intrigued by the project.
As the name implies, it is a quilt, but itâs different from any quilt Iâve ever made. Like most quilts, itâs made up of three layers but those layers consist of 100% cotton jersey knit for the front & back and quilting cotton (either pieced or whole cloth) for the middle. You baste all three layers together, then stencil designs onto the front of the quilt. You use Perle cotton to stitch a running stitch around the stenciled design, then you cut the top layer of jersey knit to reveal the quilting cotton underneath. I know reverse applique has been around forever, but Iâve never seen it done quite like this.
Hereâs an example from the workshop pdf, along with a few closeups:
The best part is that I discovered this on Friday and when I went to add supplies to my cart on Sunday, almost everything on the website had gone on sale! And to make things even better, I got a rainbow fabric bundle to piece my middle layer for 25% off (I thought it would only be 15% off).
I felt like this type of quilt would be right up my momâs alley, so I told her all about it today and sheâs going to be making one too. The jersey knit on the Alison Glass site is a bit expensive, so we ordered her a less expensive alternative that is still 100% cotton jersey, but itâs an 8oz weight instead of the 7.4oz weight thatâs being offered on the AG website. When we went to check out and order her jersey knit, we found out that the website was having a 60% off flash sale, so the fabric came out to $3.58/yard. It was so inexpensive that she ended up ordering a second color and I also ordered some to make a second quilt as well. I checked on the company before placing the order ($14.32 for 4 yards seems to good to be true - especially since thatâs less than a single yard on the AG site - and I found some mixed reviews, so weâre hoping that it comes in just as ordered and is decent quality ). Oh, and when I was trying to decide if I would use pieced or whole cloth fabric for my middle, I came across a great fabric for a whole cloth middle. My mom loved that fabric option, so thatâs what sheâs going with and best of all, it happened to be on sale as well! I feel like everything is already coming together so nicely and we havenât even started yet (knock on wood that everything continues smoothly ).
That is fascinating. I canât wait to see your quilt come together!

How cool! Reminds me of those pictures we did as kids where you color the page in all colors and then covered it with black. Then you scratch off your design!
Iâm going to make the Manx quilt blocks into a pouch, and I had a terrible morning with the zip tabs, so I think I can claim the Use Your Seam Ripper bingo call.
First I sewed the wrong side of tab 1, I should have sewed on the right:
I gave up on attaching tabs to zips by machine; I already sew the tops closed by hand because my machine struggles to top stitch close to the edge of tiny things. It took me an hour and a half to get tabs on this zip. So Iâm just going to hand sew zip tabs on in future.

AwwwâŚyou poor thing! Some days are just like this!
Iâve not made zipper tabs like that but can see too many places you can mess up. At least you found a way that works for you. Hope you will carry on and finish your pouches!
It sounds like everything fell into place! That quilt looks amazing and like a ton of work. I have never heard of using jersey for a quilt unless itâs one made out of T-shirts. I bet it is super snuggly. I love the glow effect it has. I canât wait to see what you and your mom make!
Thanks both. I tried the two rectangles of fabric way and my machine liked munching them too.
Also doesnât help that weâre having a heatwave, so my brain is melted. It was 85F here, which is very hot for us. Tonightâs overnight low is 60F,which is more like a pleasant summer day.
I stopped for work, so that was a good change of task
Today has flown by! I pretty much spent the whole day finishing up and putting together the prize packs (it seemed like it should take a few hours, so why it took a whole day is beyond me, but thatâs kind of the story of my life, lol).
Just a few reminders for everyone - this quarterâs prize pack is the Maker/Destructor Prize Pack. The quarter ends on Monday and we have one more bingo prompt left (on Monday). If you get a bingo, you are guaranteed a prize pack. But you donât have to get a bingo to get a prize, you can also win a prize by earning 7 points (all info on how to earn points can be found here).
My sewing machine is back from the shop but I havenât even tried it out yet! I actually almost forgot theyâd called me (i was on vacation rushing through airports stressing over delayed flights or something like that when they called)
Guess Iâll take it easy a few more days, then get back on the groove next month.
Today is the last day of the quarter and our last bingo call for the Q2 bingo cards.
Todayâs bingo prompt is:
Use a fat quarter
Please check your bingo cards and let me know if youâve gotten a bingo, or let me know if youâve qualified for a prize by earning 7 or more points throughout the quarter. I have the prize packs ready to go and plan on sending them out within the first few days of July.
July Prompt: Inspired by:
Books, art, or the daytime sky.
Quarter 3 Challenge
(July 1 - September 30) Create/Quilt something inspired by quilty media.
Quilty media is pretty much any âmediaâ that has to do with quilting. You can quilt a pouch inspired by a YouTube tutorial. You can create a create a block inspired by the BOMs on your favorite quilt blog. Heck, you can even participate in a mystery quilt sewalong on Facebook. So long as you create something inspired through âthe main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the internet),â it will work for this challenge.
Goal List:
Please share your first quarter goals with us. You can earn a ticket for every goal you share and complete! Plus, this quarter, you can also earn an extra ticket just by sharing your goal list!
And as always, you have the option of creating this specific BOM for the month or submitting a similar looking block that is created more within your skill level or finishes at your preferred size.
Things are a bit busy here and I have not had the chance to set up this quarterâs bingo game.
My parents are visiting from out of state and weâre all going on a camping trip at the end of the week, along with my sister who will also be traveling from out of state. Yesterday, I drove from the apartment to the house and now I need to get everything packed for camping - a task made more difficult by the fact that I left my computer at the apartment and it has my packing list on it . I rely on that list to make sure to get all of LittleBookLoverâs medical supplies and everything else packed. But, I wrote out a new list today and Iâm ready to get packing tomorrow. Iâm hoping to find some time in between everything to get the new bingo up and rolling, but based on how today went, there is a chance that I wonât get it up until closer to the middle of the month when I return.
