Quiltalong - 2025

I am so, so close to Bingo in 3 different rows on my two cards! I really wish I could claim “put a row of blocks together”, but I don’t feel right about it since all my rows of blocks, were mug rug blocks. Doesn’t seem fair to claim something so simple.

So many projects! And I get how much work it is to write up and test instructions. Putting it all in understandable language is a chore.

But what fun for your students.

P.S. I used to write computer courseware manuals and online interactive training modules. Arrgh.

I, AIMR, submit these two pouches as a medium personal project.

I am enjoying using these fabulous blocks that are made of fabrics from my fellow quilters! They are unique and handy and just lovely. The quilting is not difficult nor is the sewing.

I met two of my girlfriends for lunch and gave each of them one of these with a mitten ornament and a wreath ornament.

Not sure if this next one counts a a quilting project per se. I don’t need any more points this quarter for a prize, so I will post it anyway.

I made the scrappy piece from a bunch of leftover Kaffe Fasset scraps. I had to quilt it all on some batting. I swear I used two bobbins just for that small area! Anyway, it is a reversible drawstring bag made from quilting scraps. The reverse side is some “use the good stuff” owl fabric I have been hoarding.

I love the pouches!

I’m going to try sewing a lot today to get some stuff done lol. I’ve been wanting to but just not sitting down to do it, despite having a well laid out plan

@AudiobookLover, please don’t stress about when you get the next round of the Quiltalong open. We will all be eagerly, but also patiently, awaiting it, whenever you’re able to do so with your sanity intact. No rush.

From me personally, I’d love to continue the BOM’s. While I only was able to do a few this year, I always love them. (Breaking my wrist really put a dent in my quilting this year.) I love that they push me outside my usual lane, and they are a great palette cleanser/something to craft when you don’t know what to make.

I love the BOM, though my participation was more wishful thinking than reality. Honestly thought I’d done way more than i had!

I’m sewing right now though… 51 4-patch blocks sewn together. Next step is ironing them all  (frustrating… do it now or save till Tuesday – my designated ironing day)

Maybe I’ll go get at least one more BOM done.

We were supposed to have a Christmas Day Bingo prompt, but I missed it, so instead, we get two prompts tonight to celebrate the end of 2025!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Tonight’s Bingo prompts are:
Work on a holiday project
Complete a Quiltalong prompt/challenge/BOM

Thank you all for the patience regarding next year’s Quiltalong and thank you @Edel and @MistressJennie for your kind words!

Also, thank you all for the input. The BOMs will continue next year! If anyone has a suggestion to get us started for January, please suggest away.

I managed to complete the bingo prompt of quilting past my bedtime tonight and am really hoping to get this project finished tomorrow!

MistressJennie, I love all your mug rugs. The students are lucky to have such a knowledgeable and experienced teacher! I know you said you don’t feel right about claiming your mug rug blocks for the Bingo prompt but while the mug rug blocks may have been simple, you did complete the prompt…over and over and over again. So while the simplicity may prevent you from claiming the prompt, I think the fact that you put so many rows of blocks together gives you the right to claim it! Plus, the Rose Garden Mug Rug looks to be made up of teeny tiny blocks - not exactly the easiest to work with!

@AIMR - your pouches are a great way to use up all those fabrics and you did a lovely job of matching the insides to the outsides! As for your drawstring bag, I’d say that definitely fits this month’s challenge!

@EclecticDreamer - that looks like a satisfying result from a day of sewing! Ooh, press your blocks, I think I’ll add that to next quarter’s bingo prompts.

for the first time ever I had an international package delivered to my door and I had to pay duty taxes on it. And they only took check or money order. Who keeps money orders on hand? Luckily I had just written my one check of the year and knew where my checkbook was.

Ouch, it’s so painful. I’m mostly stopped swapping entirely because of this. Although we can usually pay online. It’s crazy that they wanted a cheque. I haven’t had a cheque book in at least 15 years . No-one uses them here

My checks are old and from 3 addresses ago. I have one yearly fee that charges to use their online portal so I write them a check out of spite.

My landlord only accepts rent via check or money order. So that’s the only reason I have one.

I looked through all my posts and realized that I never posted my finished Halloween quilt…well, just the top is finished and it was on my 4th quarter goal list to finish the entire thing, which I did not! I’ll move it to 2026, so hopefully, this will be the year I finish it!

The pattern is one shared by @Immaculata .

Used up the good cat themed Halloween fabrics!

That’s my kind of spite!

@AIMR that’s lovely and the good fabric is fab!!

Nice job on the quilt top, @AIMR! You’re most of the way there (that’s the point where I will typically get stalled on a project). Just a little bit more and you’ll have a finished quilt in time for Halloween next year! Are you thinking of finishing this soon or waiting until closer to Halloween? I vote for sooner!

Speaking of Halloween, I completed one of my Witchy Wares quilt blocks before Halloween, which was one of my goals.

So fantastic!! The tentacle coming out of the bottle is really cool!

That came out so nice!! This pattern is perfect for showing off the good fabric. The squares are quite large so it’s suitable for big prints, you can also use smaller or geometric prints for variety, you can fussy cut the best bits of the good fabric if you want to. Did you do that for the last row?

The pattern was perfect for preserving these favorite prints! I only had a fat quarter of each so I fussy cut the three middle ones so that I didn’t have to put in the black sashing. I did the same to the top row. I used more of the half blocks for the smaller prints, like the bats and cat eyes. It was nice to be able to place where you wanted to use those half blocks. Thanks! I will probably use that pattern again!

@AudiobookLover I totally forgot that I now live in a winter state. I can’t just go outside or into the garage and use my quilting basting spray!! I just ordered pins from Amazon, so yeah, I like your idea of getting it done while I have it out. Plus, cold winter days where I don’t leave my house for days are still coming for at least three more months! UGH! Quilting will be easier when it is ugly outside!
