Quiltalong - 2026

The wait in our area is months and the longarmers often pick and choose whether they even want to do your quilt! I would definitely pay to have mine done…I have quite a stack of larger quilts that will sit there forever unless I send them to a longarmer.

I know places like Missouri Star Quilt Company take quilts by mail. You can look at their site to get an idea of what they charge. I priced out a few of mine a few years ago and it was going to be between $200-$300. Yes, I would pay that. For me, it is just the hassle of shipping it off that has stopped me. I would prefer someone local.

I went to the Cunningham Children’s Home’s Festival of Quilts yesterday. Here are a few of my favorites…

I loved the giant blocks of this sampler. They were huge.

I love the bright monotone of this one.

Super cool use of stripe as a border.

So bright and cheerful!

Some lovely wall hangings…

A vibrant queen sized.

A cool use of a novelty print. The stars centers are an Easter bunny print.

I almost took this strawberry quilt home. I love the striped binding. But I decided that what I really wanted was to make one like it.

And my favorite. A full/queen sized paper pieced wonder.

Thanks for taking the time to show those quilts to us. I love that first one. The scale is fantastic.

Speaking of scale, I’m still working on my submission for art college of which the beetle quilt is part. The overall theme is beauty in the overlooked, so I’ve been making art pieces out of the scraps. But also a beetle scale quilt, from scraps. Pieced, backed and bound, matchbox for scale and @AudiobookLover there is a tiny piece of extra wide fabric in the back.

It’s amazing when you look at blocks individually that they really do ‘read’ as art.

Thank you! I feel so of lost this quarter. I am still winding down last month. I know I forgot to post some things so I am searching for pics or the project!

I’d love to make the landscape with the tree, fence and church. Stunning! I like the yellow monotone too. TFS!

Those quilts are amazing! I especially like that sampler. I don’t think I’ve seen any with giant blocks before, but I love the concept and the look of that quilt!

I didn’t catch it the first time I looked, but just now I noticed a mistake on one of the stars in the bunny rabbit quilt.

I feel like if I were to make a mistake like that, it would really bother me if I didn’t fix it, but seeing the mistake in someone else’s quilt simply made me smile and appreciate all the work that went into that quilt. I suppose it’s true what they say about being our own worst critic. Now, if only I could apply the appreciation for mistakes into my own projects!

I love that you caught that mistake and your lovely reaction to it. I smile when I see these things (not very often, I tend to take in the whole thing at once), it’s the humanity and the wonderful willingness to proudly let your mistakes stand.

OMG, I didn’t catch it at all. If I were the maker, it would have driven me bonkers too.

Whoops, I need to add Mondays back to my Quiltalong Bingo alarm! Here is yesterday’s Bingo prompt:
Share a recent quilt supply purchase

Wow, I love the techniques in Angie Henderson’s Taking a Break in the Shade, the bark, the leaves, the stones. All incredible!

Yeah, fortunately, like most large projects, if in regular use, it would be hard to see the mistakes. I suppose cuddled up in a quilt is enough than not having a quilt at all. Who knows, maybe it was done intentionally or just trying to meet a deadline. It is a lovely and fun quilt.

Done is sometimes better than none!

I did some stitching this quarter, I looked at the bingo card and I can check off soooo many boxes already! I’ll figure out how to use that card link and I will make some posts!

I TEEJAY offer this green heart for April’s prompt, it is a Quilt block (designed by @edel), it is a HEART and it’s made from 5 different things, 4 fabrics and 1 green thread!

Bingo Card

I have come to realize that as an ADHD sewist, I cannot do the bingo cards. I am fine with the BOMs and posting project finishes, but my brain refuses point blank to muddle with thw promps and bingo cards:zany_face::squinting_face_with_tongue::winking_face_with_tongue:. I just have to accept my fate.

Our weather has been awesome and we are making fantastic progress on our garden fence and garden bed clearing, so I ve had too much dirt under my nails to sew. Next week turns chilly again.so maybe I can whip out a BOM or two.
