Previous Quiltalong prize packs

Welcome to the 2026 Quiltalong! This is the place to discuss all things quilty, to share your creations, and to have fun hanging out with other quilters! Regardless of whether you’ve never made a quilt or you’ve made 50, if you are interested in quilting, this is the place for you! This group consists of quilters of all levels, here to encourage and support each other along each of our quilting journeys.

There are a variety of ways to participate in this craftalong. You’re welcome to just hang out, enjoy some quilt-related chatting, and share progress pics of your latest creation. You are also welcome to complete prompts, challenges, and/or Blocks of the Month, as well as sharing and completing your quilt goals - all of which will give you a chance to win prizes! Throughout the year, there may also be additional opportunities to earn points toward prizes.

Prompts (2 points): Each month there will be an inspirational prompt. This year, we’re going back to the basics - ABCs and 123s. The monthly prompts will consist of 2 random letters and a number. You will be prompted to create a quilted item that either makes use of the number somehow (ie. this block is made up of 7 colors, this block is 7" square, this is my 7th time making this pattern, etc.) or features something starting with one of the letters (ie. this quilt block features Pink fabric, this is my Pirate quilt, I’m sending this quilt to my friend in Paris, etc.). Half the fun is coming up with a way for your quilted item to fit the prompt.

By the end of the year, we will have gone through all the letters in the alphabet and numbers 1-10.

You can submit one prompt each month.

Challenges (2, 3, or 4 points): Each quarter (every 3 months) the Quiltalong will host a challenge. You can enter one item of each size (small, medium, or large) to earn points for the challenge. You are not required to do the actual quilting yourself in order to enter a project (ie. as long as you pieced the top together, it doesn’t matter if you send your quilt out to a longarmer, you can still enter it as a challenge entry). Challenge entries can be any quilty project from a mug rug all the way up to a king sized quilt.

Personal Finish (2, 3, or 4 points): Why be limited by the prompts and challenges? Every finish deserves to be celebrated! Each quarter, you can enter one item of each size (small, medium, or large) to earn points. This includes everything from quilt blocks to completed quilts.

Project Sizes
Small: Something that takes you less than 10 hours to sew and quilt. (2 points)
Medium: Something that takes you 10-20 hours to sew and quilt. (3 points)
Large: Something that takes you 20 or more hours to sew and quilt. (4 points)

Group Nominated Block of the Month [(BOM) 1 or 2 points]: Each month, we will have a member nominated block that you can complete using your own fabric choices. You have the option of creating the specific BOM featured for the month or submitting a similar looking block that is created more within your skill level or finishes at your preferred size. This year, all of our BOMs will be star themed.

The goal of the BOM is to have enough blocks by the end of the year to create a nice sized quilt top (that you can then show off to everyone here in the Quiltalong!). If you complete the BOM during the month it is hosted, you will earn 2 points. You can also earn 1 point by completing the monthly block outside of its hosted month, so long as it’s within the same year (ie. if you complete the March 2026 block during the month of March 2026, you get 2 tickets. If you complete the March 2026 block during a different month of 2026, you get 1 ticket).

Goal List: Please share your quilty goals for the quarter. For each goal that you accomplish, you will receive an extra point toward the quarterly prize. This can be in combination with other points that you may earn with your quilted project. For example, if on your list of goals you have “Complete the January BOM,” once you complete this goal (and post it), you will earn a point toward the quarterly prize. You can also submit your January BOM as a BOM finish for points.

Goal list items are the only projects that can be submitted in conjunction with another project for points (ie. if you submit something for a challenge, you cannot submit it for a prompt. If you submit something as a BOM, you cannot also submit it as a challenge entry.).

How to Post an Entry: To enter a Prompt, Challenge, Personal Finish, BOM, or Goal List project for points, please use the appropriate header below, at the start of your post:
-I your name, offer your item for month’s prompt
-I your name, offer your item for my small/medium/large (pick one) challenge entry.
-I your name, offer your item for my small/medium/large (pick one) personal finish.
-I your name, submit this as my (late/current) (BOM month) BOM entry.
-I your name, submit your goal for my goal list entry.

PRIZE INFO:
I will announce at the beginning of each quarter whether there will be an opportunity for everyone to win a prize, or if there will be a drawing at the end of the quarter for a single winner.

For the first quarter, every participant will have the opportunity to win a prize. Prizes will be handmade (by me)/purchased items.

Quarter 1 - Either earn a total of 7 points this quarter OR get a BINGO to win a prize.

To claim your prize:

Once you have completed the requirements, please send me a private message letting me know that you have either earned 7 points or gotten a BINGO. Please include your name and mailing address (as it should be formatted for sending, including your country).

Prizes will be sent after the quarter ends.

Quiltalong Bingo

To play:

  • Each Quiltalong member can play with up to 2 Bingo cards
  • Generate your Bingo cards here
  • Post your Bingo cards in the Quiltalong thread once they’ve been created
  • Bingo prompts will be called out according to the announced schedule (all of which will be recorded in this thread)
  • Bingo prompts must be completed during the current quarter
  • Every quilter who gets a Bingo (5 marked squares in a row - across/down/ or diagonal) will get a prize at the end of the quarter
  • The first quilter to get a Bingo will win an extra prize (so make sure to call out your Bingo as soon as you get it!)
  • You can complete prompts before or after they are called, but you can only mark a prompt once it has been called

Additional clarification:

All Bingo prompts refer to quilting projects (obviously ).

Any Bingo square that makes mention of creating a post or sharing information is referring to creating a post here in the Quiltalong thread (unless it specifically references creating a community post, which refers to creating a post on the main LettuceCraft page).

The same item can be used for more than one prompt - i.e. if you use an ombre fat quarter in a project, you could cross off the use a fat quarter and use an ombre fabric squares so long as both prompts have been called.

If I am playing two cards, does it mean I have to do two of each prompt to mark it off?
No, a single project or prompt can be used for both cards.

At last, the 2026 Quiltalong is here, along with all the fun things that come with it. Prepare for a new year of prompts (presented by the alphabet). Get your bingo daubers ready as the Quiltalong Bingo continues on. Prepare to cross off your goals, submit challenges, and finish the projects you’ve been working on! The Quiltalong Prize Packs are back this year…and I may even manage to start sending them out in a timely manner again - it’s 2026, anything is possible!

I really appreciate the tracking sheets!

So happy to see the star blocks! I don’t know what colors I want.

To start us off for 2026, here is our first bingo prompt:
Create a quilted project from a kit

Does a kit mean all the fabrics and stuff inside? Do you have any recommendations where to look? Are they sold in quilt shops? I haven’t really made much from kits unless it is something like a Christmas ornament.

Online shops like Shabby Fabric have kits and on sale they can be such good value for money that I’ve sometimes bought them for the fabric. My LQS sells pre-made kits but also custom kits but they go for up to €500!

I like the star blocks. I’ve lacked time to join the block of the month but I have some really nice fabrics and some leftover blocks from 2020. I think this could be the year to use those up and find time for quilting.

For the quarter 1 challenge, I’m working on a project that meets that description exactly! And I started it on Jan 2 judging by the pictures on my phone so it’s definitely a 2026 project.

I’m ready to have quilty fun this year. Last year was the year of renovations and this year I have the time to play along.

I have a wonderful stack of rainbow flannel fat quarters. Flannel is not the easiest to use if you like neat corners. But one of my goals is to improve my precision sewing.

Posting goals soon.

Thank you! I fell into a rabbit hole of mini quilts! They are so darn cute!! In other crafts, I often buy a kit to see if I enjoy it and to learn basics. I did that with embroidery when I first started and also some purse making kits.

I see a lot of patterns but not all have everything you need to make the product.

Goal List:

  1. Complete the Heartsy quilt for Ada’s new twin bed.
  2. Create a throw pillow out of scraps from Ada’s Heartsy quilt.
  3. Complete at least two BOM’s this quarter.
  4. Make a few sets of QAYG potholders as examples for my Allerton class.
  5. Make a donation quilt for Quilts for Kids (use up stash Wonder Woman fabrics).
  6. Make at least one stash quilt (hopefully to donate to the Festival of Quilts).
  7. Make LC Mug Rugs for the winners of the Holiday Spectacular Challenges.

In my LQS I see a lot of kits of one pattern available in different colour schemes. I think some customers find picking fabrics quite difficult and that’s why they prefer a kit.

Personally, picking the fabrics is one of my favourite parts of quilting. What’s everyone else’s favourite part?

When I first started quilting, there weren’t a lot of patterns so you had to figure out the pattern and then do the math. That used to be my favorite part. My great grandma just eyeballed everything and was quite good at it. Also, everything was cut out using scissors and a tape measure or ruler…or eyeballing it!

Now, my favorite part is probably picking out the fabrics as well!

For this prompt a kit means prepackaged supplies sold for a specific project.
So it could be a fabric kit sold for a specific pattern (like the fabric bundles that we bought for the mystery quilt), it could be fabric and the pattern together, it could be a hardware kit for a quilted bag. Kits can be found in quilt shops or on sites like etsy. Basically, they are there to make your life easier by taking out some of the work of gathering up supplies.

I have always wanted to learn applique quilting and found a few kits that includes everything. It is a good way to learn without buying tons of supplies and then finding out I don’t enjoy it! I think I am going to get it.

I would agree that picking out/buying the fabrics is my favorite part as well. When doing the I-Spy quilts (which I have one more to make), I loved choosing the fabrics and felt sad once I had bought all I needed.
While I love choosing fabrics, I do still often rely on kits to help make it easy to work on a project without spending tons of time sourcing the right fabrics.

@AIMR, I hope you’ll post pics of the kits that you get!

I don’t buy kits, because I do projects that utilize my stash. Sometimes I have to fill in with a new purchase, but I scare myself with what is in my craft room. When and where did it all come from?

But that’s Bingo, so sometimes you can’t mark off the square.

I’m working on my goal list, and I jumped in to start making the BOM. I am going to make doubles using two different color ways and sizes.

First one in progress. This will be a year-long rainbow star quilt. I loved the paper-pieced double flying geese. Now, to make all the other bits line up as nicely.

Your block is looking great. I’m looking forward to seeing the rainbow star quilt!
