This came up in another thread, but would anyone be interested in a quilt swap? We discussed a block swap, but I’m open to other ideas.
I have no timeline in mind, just a random idea.
Yes I would be in, blocks or flimsy to reduce postage costs

Here are some random ideas, if you have other ideas, please let me know! I’ve added Round Robin because I think the idea is cool, but I think it might be difficult to execute without paying a fortune in shipping costs.

Well, I could run another round of Scrappy Mail, to swap Charm or Mini Charm Squares. Then that would leave just actual quilty swap options for yours. Would that help?

I have absolutely no idea to be honest. I know they are a thing in a local quilt guild here, that’s why I thought of it. But I’m not really sure if it would work with international shipping, so it makes sense that it wouldn’t be allowed.
I’m always up for another round of Scrappy Mail! That’s a fun swap. Then I could host a block swap. The earliest opportunity for me would be September.
I would love a round Robin, but I participated in an online one before. Started great… then half the people stopped sending. I never did get mine back. I think the logistics would be too chaotic.
But in general I’d be in!

Round Robins, in that form, are not allowed due to our use of Swap Angels.

It’s now September, time to start the Block swap!
I personally haven’t participated in one yet, but I looked at this one: COMPLETE-Quilt Block Swap (Signups CLOSED; Sendouts 6/3/21) and I think @MistressJennie thought that through very well.
We could do the traditional option with small groups (3-5 people) where people make 3 blocks for each member of the group, and the individual option where people are partnered with one person that they make 1 or 2 blocks for.
Does that sound like a plan? How much time would people need? I was thinking signups from this weekend to next weekend, then 4 weeks of crafting time? That would mean sendouts around October 18, so the swap would be finished ahead of the festive season.

Sound fun, I’m interested. 4 weeks seems like plenty of crafting time. Would we all be making the same blocks for each other or how would block selection work?

In the previous swap, people picked a few blocks they would like to receive + colour scheme in their Q, including at least one that’s beginner friendly, and it’s suggested that if you have something particular in mind to make a sample block and post a picture of it.

Yes, I have made a lot of pouches and baskets using quilt blocks. As a matter of fact, my favorite pouch is one I made from a quilt block. It is a good size and nice and puffy to hold my jewelry!

love this, I hope this does well so that there will be another. my garden is keeping me far too busy. i can’t sew anything (self imposed) until the food is all put up appropriately. i still have a month or more.
