Rainbow birthday cake

Hi all!

A co-worker of mine, asked me to crochet a little birthday cake. She uses it to decorate the table of the student on his/her birthday.

It was fun to make and I only used materials from my stash.

I used this free pattern from Hobbii You need to create a free account, but it is all for free.

Yes, isn’t it?
I teach the youngest at school, 4,5 or 6 years old. When we celebrate a birthday, I make them a birthday hat, we have bunting hanging in the classroom, we sing lots of birthday songs and I use the crochet birthday cake I made for the kids with battery candles.

And this one

When the kids get older, in the next class, they don’t celebrate it like that. They sing songs, but no more hat and so my collegue wanted this little cake for the desk of the birthday boy or girl. I thought that it is an excellent idea, so I happily made this baby cake

I wasn’t sure if in other countries kids celebrate their birthday at school, but here we do.

The little face and strawberries push this over the top! It’s so cute. The student is going to be delighted all day.

I love your big cakes! So much to see…and what a cool idea for those little tealight fake candles!

Thanks!
I used a pattern for the big cakes, they were also much fun to crochet.

Back in the old days, I had a clay cake and idee real tealight candles. This is of course much safer but still fun!

When I am back at school when the year starts, I will take better pictures of the cakes and make a new post.

I love everything about this - the size, the colorful rainbow stripes, the face, it’s purpose - all of it! You did a great job delivering on the request!

Yes, please! I would love to see more of those! They are amazing!
