REIMAGINED Harry Potter Craftalong - Spring 2025

I’m trying to find a balance between getting stuff done around the house and crafting. I’ll forget about things I want to craft, then I’ll remember at 10p at night when I want to spend time with my husband (but I’m also torn about crafting). I have grandiose ideas, but many haven’t come to fruition.

I’m also struggling with my ADHD where I want to make something, but if I have to wait or it takes a long time then I lose interest. This has been happening with pretty much everything, not just crafting. I would have made choco chip banana nut bread the other day, but I was missing one ingredient. Now that I can get the ingredient, I don’t feel much like making it.

It’s making it very difficult to get anything accomplished.

I made some things! 2 pics are spoilered for doll cleavage

Prompt/Challenge Title: Hospital Wing
Project Name & Page Link: White Top for SmartDoll
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description:
I made a commissioned top at the end of last term and decided to adapt my pattern to be knitted in the round. I’m enjoying it so much that I’ve made 5 so far. (You’ll see more in this post :stuck_out_tongue: )

Prompt/Challenge Title: Potions Dungeon
Project Name & Page Link: Mushroom Stool
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description: I’ve made several mushroom stools for different sized dolls, but when I saw the sturdy core from a used-up roll of tape at work, I knew I had to use it to make a Nendo-sized one. This will be decor in one of my Nendo display areas.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Back of the Library
Project Name & Page Link: Crocheted Jellyfish
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description: My coworker saw a cool idea for a crocheted aquarium we’d like to recreate in our library this year during Summer Reading. She shared pics with me, and I started with these Jellyfish. (I’ll try to remember to get a pic when it’s all assembled, too!)

Prompt/Challenge Title: Dumbledore’s Office
Project Name & Page Link: Mushroom Hat for Nendoroid
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description: I made myself a mushroom hat last term for Youmacon. Last week, after making the stool, I realized that nothing was stopping me from making a Nendo-sized mushroom hat! All that bright lighting for the pic has made me realize that I need to lint-roller the mushrooms! (You can see the underside of the hat in the pic above.)

Prompt/Challenge Title: Moaning Myrtle’s Bathroom
Project Name & Page Link: Crocheted Coral
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description: Another element for the crocheted aquarium. I got this yarn (and the pink for the jellies) at the Dollar Tree. I love how the fuzzy yarn works for this coral!

Prompt/Challenge Title: Slytherin Common Room
Project Name & Page Link: Twin tops for SmartDoll
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description: More Tube tops! This time in green! These girls have different bust sizes, so the top looks different on each of them.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Hagrid’s Cabin
Project Name & Page Link: Purple tops for SmartDoll
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description: Well, I’m clearly loyal to this pattern now, lol. I’ve also used this purple yarn for a number of dolly projects.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Front Seat of the Ford Anglia
Project Name & Page Link: PussyHat for Nendo
Team: The Quibbler
Brief Description: I worked up a pattern for the PussyHat in mini for Nendoroid, but felt it was a bit too tight. After a minor adjustment, I was able to fly through this iteration.

Niko actually does have cat ears, but this looks the same on a regular Nendo:

Prompt/Challenge Title: Potions Dungeon
Project Name & Page Link: Chonky Book
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: I like to browse through the scrapbook paper section of the local creative reuse store when I’m dropping off donations. It’s rare to find two matching pieces and even rarer to find double sided sheets. So I had to save them for something special, in this case my first rounded spine book in years. I let the colors of the endpapers dictate the appearance of the rest of the project and I love how it turned out.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Flooded Corridor
Project Name & Page Link: Quarto Binding
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: Dark, yes. Book, yes. I was kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel for inspiration here but I it turned out well in the end. Too bad the black bookcloth shows every bit of dust and cat-hair in a three county radius.

More books! I’m in a very happy rut.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Restricted Section
Project Name & Page Link: Quarto Binding
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: I wanted something fun for the cover so I made a frame out of some art nouveau motifs from an old Dover Pictorial Archive I’d had since 2003. But the book cloth’s coating did not go well with the HTV’s adhesive so we ended up with some strange little stringy glue bits around everything. Not the look I was going for, but it photographs well.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Dumbledore’s Office
Project Name & Page Link: Quarto Book
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: I think everything in this book except for the glue and the endbands are old enough to vote. Especially the bookboard - I’ve been using old scraps that were discarded about 20 years ago and were ancient even then.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Moaning Myrtle’s Bathroom
Project Name & Page Link: Two Folio Books
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: I had the perfect papers in stash for this particular book and I am in love with how it turned out (except for my usual issues with HTV for the spine, not pictured here).

(Coming out of very long hibernation) Oooh, I just started my first ever Musselburgh! Took me a while to start as I was a bit scared of the first bit, but am now on the long part - a good travelling project!

Prompt/Challenge Title: Ford Anglia
Project Name & Page Link: Lavender Quarto
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: I’ve gotten much quicker at making a book over the course of last month’s binding marathon, so this one came together pretty swiftly. Also, this is super pastel in person and way outside my usual biblio-aesthetic.

How pretty! I love that white-on-lavender motif, very romantic.

It is lovely. Looks like it should contain a fairy tale with a happy ending.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Slytherin Common Room
Project Name & Page Link: Two Legal Quartos
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: This book is all from stash but uses some of the oldest papers in my stash (sometime before 2010) and the newest supply (the bookboard was added to stash in December).

I can understand why you hoarded those papers - they’re so pretty! They make for very nice books.

I have a Paper Problem but at least it takes up slightly less room than the yarn or the fabric.

I can relate.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Back of the Library
Project Name & Page Link: Three Piece Bradel Binding
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: I wasn’t planning on casing in a book this weekend but somehow it happened. I was seeing three piece bindings all over instagram at the beginning of the year, but when I finally decided to make one of my own I’d removed all the social media apps from my phone for lent and I was struggling to find a tutorial. I ended up reverse engineering based on vague memories. And it worked pretty well!
