Husband’s birthday cake this year was a reworking of last year’s…just in his favorite color (per kiddos’ direction). Vanilla cake and chocolate frosting (with some black food coloring for good measure.) It was good-if exceptionally rich. Lots of frosting going on! And the weight of the skulls totally made it start to buckle when it warmed up a bit. I would have stuck some doweling in there had this been going anywhere or for something more formal than singing at the kitchen table on a weekday.

Wow wow WOW! This is a real stunner of a cake! The black on black is so striking and gives a big hint to the decadence to come. There’s no way I’m letting TheMisterT see it, or I’ll have to make one!
