Scribble Skull Fabric Coasters

I made these for the Grab Bag S & F edition Swap. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the style. I was inspired by a Pinterest pin, but theirs was much cooler with stamping and possibly paint.
Mine was done with fabric. I cut out darker fabrics for the shadows and eyes, fused them down and started scribbling with thread.

I made them coordinate instead of matching for some added interest. This was my first time using the darning foot on my sewing machine. I have had it for a while but thought the jumping meant it didn’t fit. I watched a quilting video, and it was an ah-ha moment. I had to try it.

Thanks for checking them out! I think I will make myself a set, but with different images later when life calms down.

Oh! And they say “Hello” and “Goodbye” in thread on each skull. The goodbye is much easier to see, as I used a darker thread for that one. Hello is in the same spot on the other one, but done in teal.

I wanted to see if I could write, and it worked so I did it on both of them.

Thanks, everyone! These were a lot of fun to make. Glad they are being well received.

Totally jelly of @AuFish, who got these in the swap! I love them! I noticed the “goodbye” in the one, and was going to ask you about it. I didn’t see the “hello” initially, and now I’m doubly impressed!

This are so dang cool! I love how they are obviously detailed skulls, but when you look closely it’s “clusters of tangles.”

They are amazing! Great use of the darning foot. The crosshatch of the white fabric works perfectly to add just the right highlights. :heartpulse:
