Definitely! Iāve been wanting to learn sculpting and this swap was the motivation I needed.
I was watching a YouTube video yesterday of a woman who makes her own air dry clay (wood glue, calcium carbonate, tp paper pulp, vegetable oil) and the insanely detailed sculptures she was able to make with her clay. I donāt think Iād go through that much effort to make clay (maybe once) but itās so cool that you can make your own and customize it to work how you want.
I got most of the painting done on my sculpture and Iām happy with how itās turning out. I need to do a couple touch ups today then Iāll let it dry another day or so to make sure itās fully dry before varnishing.

Oh thatās neat! Several years ago I tried to make porcelain clay at home using flour and lotion and some other stuff I donāt remember. I ruined my microwave and the clay wasnāt usable.

I used variants on stuff I do all the time, so seems likely. I might have gotten a little exciting about the glaze, tho, so weāll see how that comes outā¦ (firing is in progress, tho nothingās getting unloaded until next week.)

Weāre unloading the kiln tomorrow afternoon, so Iām hoping for no surprises so my piece can be on its way after the weekend!
Edit to add, we unloaded today and I think itās good to go! I have a festival market for the next two days, so it will peobably be on its way on Monday! Yayā

Wellā¦Iām definitely committed to a style now with my second try at painting. Its colorful but I donāt think Iād call it whimsical. It is very bright and leans more towards lisa frank / sparkle dog / graffiti.
